Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey CAB is an independent charity providing advice, information and support to people across our community. We are a friendly team of over 80 employees and volunteers working over 3 locations (Inverness, Raigmore and Aviemore) delivering a busy advice service to members of the public. We strive to deliver a good quality service that meets the needs of our clients in a non-judgemental and confidential manner.

The Role

This role is responsible for supporting the smooth running of our reception area and ensuring that clients who contact the bureau receive excellent customer service which meets their individual needs.

We are interested to hear from good team players who have experience of working in a similar environment and are confident in dealing with clients who may be vulnerable or have multiple needs. The successful candidate will have a strong customer focus and treat everyone in a non-judgemental, respectful and confidential manner. The job holder will be supported through an initial training programme and encouraged to continually develop during their time with us.

Main purpose of the role:

L’Arche Highland has a rare opportunity for someone to join us as the Workshop Manager of our well-regarded daytime workshops for adults with learning disabilities in Inverness. Working within the joyful and beautiful environment of our workshops, you will be the operational lead of our dynamic workshop provision and part of the senior leader team within L’Arche Highland. The Workshop Manager also acts as Registered Manager for our workshop day opportunities.

The workshops offer a structured employment and learning experience via candle making, woodwork, garden and life skills workshops, enabling 50 people per week to experience meaningful work that is not merely occupational. They promote independence, social integration, healthy living and lifelong learning and seek to reduce isolation by working to individual outcomes as part of a team.

To be successful in this role you will be well organised, creative and fun, a great communicator, adaptive and flexible. The post holder manages five Workshop Leaders, volunteers and Workshop Assistants. This role involves management and leadership duties, co-produced service development, and delivery of group workshop sessions, when required. Knowledge of learning disability is essential and alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, Talking Mats and PECS is desirable.

As Registered Manager you will ensure that our support and care is not only consistent with Care Inspectorate, NHS Highland and SSSC requirements but also with the values and mission of L’Arche. The post requires a minimum of SVQ3 Health & Social Care qualification or relevant social care experience.

Hamilton Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) was formed over 50 years ago to provide a holistic advice service to the residents of Hamilton. As a member of the Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux network, Hamilton CAB aims to provide free, independent, impartial, and confidential advice and information to ensure that people understand their rights and responsibilities and can express their needs effectively. We campaign and influence to tackle the root cause of the problems people face and work to strengthen their rights.

Hamilton CAB currently operates from two offices in Hamilton and are supported by 18 members of staff and 31 volunteers including board members. The Bureau supports individuals with a wide range of general enquiries whilst project staff provide specialist support on topics including benefits, debt, utilities, and money matters.

The role:

We are seeking a committed and dynamic individual to serve as the Chair of our organisation.

As Chair, you will play a vital role by providing strategic leadership to the board, ensuring it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation. You will also provide line management, support and direction to the Chief Officer, helping them to achieve the organisation’s aims and objectives; and ensures the smooth running of Hamilton CAB.

We are looking for an individual who has experience of leadership and governance. You will have a passion for the voluntary sector, strong leadership skills and an ability to drive forward positive change.

Although, not financially remunerated, the role is high profile and respected within the community and will offer a great challenge, learning and networking opportunity for the right person.

There are an average of 6 Board meetings per year to commit to as well as preparation time and regular collaboration /communications with the team and stakeholders.

Our Bureau provides confidential, free, independent and impartial advice to those who live and work in the Clydesdale area. We offer generalist advice on issues in areas such as Benefits, Consumer Matters, Council Tax, Employment, Utilities, Family and Personal Matters, Housing and Debt. Our specialist services offer counselling and representation with regard to debt, benefits, pensions and complaints and concerns with the NHS.

Advisers not only offer advice but also negotiate and act on behalf of clients. All advisers are trained to Citizens Advice Scotland standards.

The Bureau provides a service to the people of Clydesdale through its office in Lanark and through outreach provision in a number of outlying areas.
