Role

Applications are invited for an experienced leader to join the University of St Andrews as Head of Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).

This is an exciting opportunity to work with colleagues across the University to support delivery of our ambition to be a beacon of inclusivity, placing equality and diversity at the heart of everything we do and creating an environment where everyone can flourish.

An experienced leader with a deep understanding of diversity and inclusion, excellent people and project management skills, and a commitment to delivering positive change, you will play a critical role in delivery of ‘Diverse St Andrews’. Working closely with, and reporting to, the Vice-Principal, People and Diversity you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the core EDI Team ensuring the provision of high-quality expert advice, delivery of strategic actions and commitments to EDI (including support for institutional charter awards), and the embedding of EDI across all functions of the University as part of a values-driven approach to EDI.

With a recently refreshed five-year University strategy that places Diversity at its core, and strong focus on its delivery, this is an excellent time to join the University of St Andrews and help shape its future.

In addition to a supportive and collegiate working environment, employees of the University have access to a wide range of staff benefits including:

• Annual leave of 34 days, plus 5 public holidays

• Financial contribution to relocation

• Membership of the USS Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions

• A hybrid working environment, including partial homeworking where appropriate and a range of family-friendly policies

• Staff discount scheme for local and national goods and services

• Free staff parking, employee Carshare and Cycle to Work Schemes and subsidised local bus travel

• Subsidised sports membership, reduced tuition fees on degree programmes for staff/children of staff, access to library facilities, salary sacrifice scheme and a range of wellbeing initiatives

Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the St Andrews experience. We strive to create a fair and inclusive culture demonstrated through our commitment to diversity awards (Athena Swan, Carer Positive, LGBT Charter and Race Charters). We celebrate diversity by promoting profiles of BAME, LGBTIQ+ staff and supporting networks including the Staff BAME Network; Staff with Disabilities Network; Staff LGBTIQ+ Network; and the Staff Parents & Carers Network.
