The Spartans Community Foundation operates from a £1.4 million purpose-built Education & Youth Work space, creating exciting opportunities to expand our impact and support even more children and young people across North Edinburgh.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated individual with a strong range of youth work skills and experience to join our vibrant and dedicated Senior Alternative School and Youth Work team where the successful candidate will support young people within our Junior Alternative School.
Key Objective:
Deliver and develop a high-quality face-to-face youth work service aimed at meeting the needs of children and young people through informal activity-based youth work sessions in an alternative education setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with young people based on mutual trust and respect.
- Deliver direct face-to-face work with young people in existing and new youth work provision.
- Encourage the involvement of young people in the planning and evaluation of programmes.
- Assist with service development by effectively contributing to planning, delivery, and monitoring and evaluation requirements.
- Develop reflective practice and attend supervision as required.
- Assist in the development of programmes that promote equal opportunities and inclusive environments.
- Deliver a range of fun, engaging activities suitable for various age ranges in a school based setting and alternative education setting.
- Use a wide range of resources to effectively engage with all young people.
- Ensure health and safety is always maintained to the required standards.
- Carry out any other duties as required, including the possibility of residential trips and holiday programmes as required.
Skills Required
- Experience of working with and developing trusting relationships with children and young people aged 7-16 years old.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people and the ability to motivate and engage them positively.
- Experience of working with and developing trusting relationships with hard-to-reach young people.
- Experience of delivering and developing youth work in a variety of settings.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of issues facing young people within our community.
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding and willingness to undergo further training.
- An understanding of the needs of socially excluded young people.
- A high level of professionalism in the workplace, including maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Reliability and good timekeeping.

Street Soccer is a charity using football to create lasting change in the lives of isolated and excluded adults and young people. We run 60 sessions a week of free, inclusive and judgement-free football. These sessions provide person-centred support to players facing a number of challenges including mental health, homelessness, long term unemployment, problem substance use, criminal justice and seeking asylum. Role Purpose
The Head of Fundraising leads Street Soccer's fundraising function, with responsibility for the strategic growth and diversification of income across Grants & Trusts, Philanthropy, Individual Giving, Social Enterprise (Change Centre Dundee and Kitback), Earned Income, Events, Sponsorship & Corporate Partnerships. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and sitting within the leadership team, this role develops and delivers a multi-year income strategy that supports Street Soccer's continued growth across Scotland and London. In line with our new strategic priorities, it will build the resilience and diversity of income the organisation needs to sustain its work with isolated and excluded adults and young people. The successful candidate will bring established sector knowledge and a strong network of relationships across funders, corporate partners and the wider third sector, opening doors and creating opportunities that accelerate Street Soccer's income growth. Saints in the Community is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sports Coordinator to lead the development of our football and wider sports programmes across Perth & Kinross.
We are the official charity associated with St. Johnstone Football Club, using the reach and identity of the Club and football to create opportunities and improve lives across our community through Sport, Education and Wellbeing. From grassroots and girls' football to disability sport, schools, holiday programmes, walking football and adult activity, our work reaches a hugely diverse range of people.
The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next chapter of sport at Saints in the Community.
Football will be at the heart of the role. You will help us grow participation, develop programmes, support coaches, build partnerships and make sure our sports offer is inclusive, engaging and sustainable.
Around 70% of your time will focus on programme management, development and coordination, with around 30% on hands-on coaching and delivery. You will lead the sports team while still getting out into the community and delivering sessions yourself.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone with practical community sport or coaching experience, a strong understanding of grassroots football, and the confidence to lead people, manage programmes and build relationships.
You’ll need to be organised, proactive and excited by the opportunity to develop new ideas and grow our sports offer.
A UEFA C Licence or equivalent is required, but if you don’t already have it, we’ll fund the qualification for the right person who is willing to work towards it.

The Killie Community is an independent Scottish charity (SC045968) based at the Rugby Park Community Campus in Kilmarnock, working in partnership with Kilmarnock Football Club. We use the power of football as a force for good, engaging people that services often struggle to reach, staying alongside them.
Every year we support around 10,000 people across Ayrshire through programmes spanning health and wellbeing, youth diversion, employability, education, dementia support, anti-poverty work and community connection. - Be a consistent, approachable presence across the communities we serve.
- Reach families who are not currently connected to support, including those who have disengaged from other services.
