Role

The Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre provides emergency accommodation and support to anyone who would otherwise be sleeping rough in Edinburgh. After a successful lifesaving winter season beginning in 2025, the Welcome Centre will now continue operating for a further 11 months, through to 31 March 2027, in the first instance.

We are looking for a Day Shift Project Worker to work 12-hour day shifts from 7:45 am to 8:00 pm (usually seven on/seven off). You will work alongside partner agencies to build support plans for individuals staying at the Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre, helping move guests to more suitable long-term accommodation.

The post is a fixed-term contract ending on 31 March 2027.

We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experience in working with the vulnerable
  • An understanding of mental health and addiction issues
  • Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
  • An SVQ level 3 in Care/Promoting Independence or equivalent is desirable
  • Administrative skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to respond to a changing environment
  • Ability to maintain clear & accurate records
  • Successful applicants for this post will require membership in the PVG scheme.
