‘Connect to Community’ is part of Bethany Christian Trust and seeks to support men and women leaving prison to achieve their goals and to build a positive pathway after prison, by providing a relationship that integrates people in to their local community.

A significant part of the role will be to facilitate volunteer mentoring by working in partnership with churches and other organisations across the wider area of Fife, Dundee and Perth.

The Lunchtime Care Van service, which is an extension of the Evening Care Van Service run by Bethany Christian Trust and Edinburgh City Mission, reaches out to people with food and support at 5 different stops throughout the City of Edinburgh, 5 lunchtimes a week and every night of the year. Passing the Baton (PtB) is Bethany’s Befriending Service operating in Edinburgh which aims to reduce the isolation and loneliness that people who have been homeless can experience. We are looking for two person centred candidates who will support the coproduction and delivery of Bethany’s new Access through Advocacy service within community settings. An opportunity has arisen for a housing officer to join our Bethany Homes team in Edinburgh on a part-time basis. The Housing Officer will ensure the efficient outworking of supported tenancy management functions across Bethany flats, predominately in the City of Edinburgh, but also across other localities where Bethany owns properties such as Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Dumfries. We are looking to expand our casual pool of general labourers and qualified electricians. You will join our maintenance team working across our many sites and on a range of jobs including electrical repairs, joinery work and property maintenance.
Starting Salary: £11.15 per hour

Bethany Christian Trust is a national charity whose mission is to relieve the suffering and meet the long term needs of homeless and vulnerable people in Scotland.
You will be working closely with our maintenance team on a casual basis. The purpose of this role is to support the maintenance team and assist with carrying out general repairs, electrical, joinery, plumbing and refurbishment work at both our residential and commercial properties. This role will also involve occasional travel within Scotland.
You will require an up-to-date CSC certification and experience in general labour and electrical work. Team working, willingness to learn, flexibility, and consideration towards our service users are essential to this role. A driving license is desirable. This position is subject to a satisfactory basic disclosure check.

We are looking for someone who has an engaging personality and who likes to communicate with people on a one-to-one level whether in person or through a written or digital medium. You must be able to write (yes – handwritten!) chatty personal notes to thank supporters for their gift and know how to engage with someone to build a relationship between them and Bethany.
This role encompasses Major giving, In Memory/In Celebration Giving and Legacy Giving. That means on occasion you will need to work sensitively alongside families who are giving a gift in memory of a loved one who has passed away. You will be establishing a legacy marketing strategy to develop Bethany’s legacy giving over the long term.
You will contribute to the development of appeal concepts for our 3 annual direct mail appeals and help acknowledge and process the income from those appeals at busy times.

As HR Trainee, you will be an integral and core team member and work proactively in our People Development and Relationships Team.
This is a true generalist role in which you will gain excellent experience in the full remit of HR work. The role is very varied and the post holder will require to be both reactive and sensitive to the HR issues arising within the organisation at any given time. This post is developmental and is an excellent opportunity for someone keen to develop in HR to gain valuable experience. We are looking for someone who is CIPD qualified or equivalent.
We need you to be innovative, proactive, comfortable working on your own initiative, adaptable, supportive, diplomatic and discreet, with strong time management skills. We are also looking for an individual with the ability to build and develop good relationships at all levels.
