Job Purpose

To support the delivery of the Cashback for Communities programme, working with young people aged 14–21. The post holder will engage, support and inspire young people through positive activities, helping them develop confidence, life skills, employability, wellbeing and resilience while encouraging positive choices and reducing involvement in antisocial behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organising and delivering engaging group work and one-to-one support sessions for young people aged 14–21.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, encouraging their participation and ongoing engagement in the programme.
• Support young people to identify personal goals and develop skills, confidence and aspirations.
• Deliver activities that promote health, wellbeing, teamwork, leadership and personal development.
• Support the recruitment and retention of participants, ensuring sessions are welcoming, inclusive and accessible.
• Work alongside partner agencies, schools and community organisations to support young people's needs.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and outcomes in line with programme requirements.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation by collecting feedback, case studies and evidence of impact.
• Promote safeguarding and ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all participants.
• Act as a positive role model, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.
• Attend team meetings, training and supervision sessions as required.
• Support occasional evening or weekend activities where necessary.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience working with young people aged 14–21 in a youth work, community, education or similar setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people from a range of backgrounds.
• Understanding of the challenges affecting young people and barriers to participation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
• Flexible and enthusiastic approach to supporting young people.

Desirable

• Youth Work qualification or relevant experience.
• Experience delivering employability, wellbeing, sports, arts or community-based programmes.
• Knowledge of the Cashback for Communities programme and its aims.
• First Aid qualification.

Overview:

The Advice and Information Service is a national support service for single-parent families and professionals across Scotland. It provides multi-channel advice on a wide range of topics, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity. The service operates Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, excluding Christmas and Easter holidays.

The Project Lead for Advice and Information Service will play a key role in supporting the A&I Service Manager with the day-to-day management, operations and delivery of the OPFS Advice and Information Service. They will help ensure the service is delivered effectively, supporting staff, maintaining high-quality service provision and contributing to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the service.

Working within the OPFS "My Life and Me" framework, the postholder will provide operational leadership, support and supervision to staff, ensure high-quality service delivery and undertake quality assurance activities. The Project Lead will be expected to deputise for the A&I Service Manager when required.

The Advice & Information Service is part of OPFS Support for Families Services, which provides holistic support to single parents and their children.

• Family support and group programmes that promote positive outcomes for children, strengthen parenting capacity, support child development and provide opportunities for children to participate in activities that enhance wellbeing.

Relationships

• One-to-one and group support that helps parents build positive relationships, strengthen family connections, develop peer support networks and reduce social isolation.

Join our board and help shape an intergenerational Scotland Generations Working Together (GWT) is seeking to appoint two committed, proactive and passionate volunteer Trustees to join our Board at a particularly exciting time for intergenerational work. With the Global Intergenerational Congress coming to Glasgow in 2026, alongside our Global and National Excellence Awards taking place this year, GWT is at the forefront of celebrating and advancing intergenerational practice across Scotland and beyond.

We are recruiting the following:

• a Co-Vice Chair role– succeeding a long-standing Trustee stepping down after nine years and
• a Trustee position to strengthen the Board

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who bring experience of working with or alongside older people, and who can help ensure strong representation of older voices within our governance.

About the role

We are looking for Trustees with experience in the voluntary, public or private sector who are motivated to contribute strategically to a growing national organisation. You will share our passion for building strong, connected communities across different generations.

We are especially interested in individuals with skills or experience in:

• Human Resources (including organisational development, workforce planning, or learning & development)
• Policy and influencing
• Marketing, communications and audience development
• Strategic leadership or organisational management
• Housing, place-based working or community development
• Environment / climate and regenerative practice
• Work relating to older people

Commitment

Trustees are appointed for up to two x three-year terms (with potential extension).

The role typically involves:

• 4 Board meetings per year (hybrid/online, early evening)
• Annual General Meeting- Wed 11th Nov 2026, 12noon – 1pm
• 1 annual development session (in person, Glasgow – Sat 28th November, 10am – 4pm)

Optional attendance at key events including:

• Global Intergenerational Congress (Glasgow, 29 Sept– 1st Oct 2026)
• Global Intergenerational Week (24-30th April 2027)

As a small charity, Trustees may also contribute between meetings through sub-groups or specific projects aligned to their expertise.

About Generations Working Together

Generations Working Together is the nationally recognised centre of excellence supporting the development and integration of intergenerational work across Scotland. Our mission is to develop, expand and improve IG practice nationwide. Our vision is to live in a Scotland where different generations are more connected, where everyone has opportunities to build relationships that help to create a more inclusive society.

Intergenerational work means relationship-based projects, activities and events where people of different generations, who might not otherwise meet, do things together in positive and creative ways. It includes any activities which purposefully ignore, remove or break down social, environmental, cultural or institutional barriers between generations e.g. ageism, making spaces for older & younger people to meet naturally, get to know each other, share ideas, pass on &/or learn new skills, work together to identify solutions to problems, addressing challenges in their communities, all the while forging relationships and friendships.

An intergenerational lens can also be applied to the workplace which can now have up to five generational cohorts within. Organisations are considering the impact of this and are questioning whether they have the right policies, processes and ethos in place to support their diverse expectations. Applying an intergenerational lens to the workplace provides an opportunity to consider the benefits that come from diverse generational groups.

As a membership and capacity-building organisation, GWT operate locally and nationally raising awareness, sharing and expanding knowledge and understanding of intergenerational practice and its impact. We provide training and wide-ranging resources and organise learning events and facilitate local and thematic networking opportunities, to enable high quality intergenerational activity to take root on the ground & flourish. GWT lead and deliver pilot projects to support and encourage the development and delivery of intergenerational practice in new settings. We also participate in research projects and scan relevant research taking place across the world for distilling and sharing with our members and others.

Are you passionate about children’s rights, evidence and storytelling? Early Years Scotland is seeking an Evaluation and Storytelling Officer to help us understand, capture and share the difference our work makes to children and families across Scotland, and to give our teams and our funders the evidence and stories that show what that difference really looks like.

This is an exciting new role for Early Years Scotland. You will design a children’s rights-aligned impact framework, produce evaluation reports across our services, and develop age-appropriate ways to capture the voices of the children and families we support. You will also lead a transformation of how we tell our story across our website and social media and work closely with our Head of Grants and Strategic Fundraising to capture and turn family stories, quotes and evidence into material that strengthens funding applications and corporate partnership pitches.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and embed a children’s rights-aligned impact measurement framework across EYS services, mapping our outcomes to articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
• Develop simple, consistent tools for recording outcomes, participant feedback and service stories that work alongside frontline teams rather than creating extra burden for them.
• Produce evaluation reports for EYS services across our early years, family support, prison-based, and membership services.
• Develop and apply age-appropriate, participatory methods to capture the voices of children and families, so that even our youngest participants have a meaningful role in how EYS understands and communicates its impact.
• Audit and transform EYS’s approach to storytelling across our website and social media, moving from ad hoc communication to a strategic, evidence-led approach.
• Build a bank of compelling family stories, quotes and case studies, working directly with families and children to shape and voice that narrative with dignity, sensitivity and accuracy.
• Work closely with the Head of Grants and Strategic Fundraising, providing case studies, quotes and evaluation evidence to strengthen funding applications and support corporate partnership pitches.
• Develop family stories specifically designed to support fundraising, helping EYS build new relationships with donors.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience of monitoring, evaluation or impact measurement, ideally within a charity, early years or family support setting.
• A confident, sensitive storyteller, able to gather and write compelling family stories and case studies with care and accuracy.
• An understanding of the UNCRC and Scottish Government child and family-based policy, or a willingness to learn and apply a children’s rights-based approach.
• Skill in developing simple, practical tools that frontline teams will actually use.
• Excellent written communication skills, comfortable adapting tone and content for funders, social media and web audiences.
• Confidence engaging directly with children and families, including in sensitive settings such as our prison-based family services.
• Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple services and deadlines.
• A collaborative approach, able to work closely with the Head of Grants and Strategic Fundraising, extended management team and across frontline teams.
