Aberlour Sycamore Services- Fort William, is a residential care home for children and young people between the ages of 12 years and 18 years old, helping them to live and grow in a community setting. We work using a Dyadic Developmental Practice model which means that we ensure that the child and their behaviour is understood and the child feels as safe as possible at home, in school and in social activities.

What we are looking for....

You will contribute to the leadership, management and development of services for children, young people and families in line with planned objectives and assist with service review and evaluation. You will play an important role in the overall management function of the service.

There will be an expectation that you work part of your hours on a shift rota, that will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with the exception of one back shift per week (2pm to 10pm) and one day of a weekend monthly and be part of the on call rota including every 5th weekend.

You will have relevant experience of working with children and young people with a in a residential or community setting and understand the impact of trauma on social inclusion. You are required to meet the qualifications requirement for this post which is at SCQF Level 8 (eg. HNC, SVQ Level 4). This post requires you to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Residential Child Care Worker with Supervisory Responsibilities.

Children in Scotland is currently seeking an experienced Communications Officer to join our collaborative and driven Communications & Marketing Team.

Children in Scotland has numerous functions that support the children’s sector in Scotland - from membership services and events to policy and participation activities, as well as delivering a number of services (Enquire, Reach, Resolve, My Rights, My Say). The Communications Officer will play an important role in raising awareness of both the organisation and the key issues facing the sector – through engaging content, social media and brand activity.

We are looking for a great team player who enjoys the process of collaboration to achieve creative and dynamic communications. They will take a highly-organised and proactive approach to their responsibilities, and have a close eye for detail.

We would love to hear from candidates with a background in content marketing, social media, or multimedia, as well as a good understanding of digital communications.

The successful candidate will be ready to hit the ground running, but will be offered an excellent induction and support through the first few months. This is a hybrid role with some flexibility around working-from-home days. Members of the communications team are generally encouraged to spend a minimum of one day per week working at the Children in Scotland office in Edinburgh, and attend mandatory quarterly in-person all-staff days and departmental meetings.

We are looking to recruit a Residential Worker to join our team in Fort William, you will work 37.5 hours per week working in a residential house. We have a core team of Residential Workers who support our young people, helping them to achieve and overcome the challenges they face. At Aberlour, we believe that every child deserves the change to flourish regardless of their background and the circumstances that have brought them to live with Aberlour. The children we support are presently not able to live safely with their own families and many of them have suffered from trauma and loss in their young lives. Working therapeutically with the young people, using a Dyadic Developmental approach, our aim is to help the young people to develop their confidence and self-worth and therefore to maximise their potential and opportunities for living fulfilled and happy lives. As a Residential Worker, you will play a fundamental role in ensuring that our young people are working towards their goals through supporting them with different daily activities. These activities can include college, different hobbies and attending fun groups. Not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role.

This service operates a residential rota and, as part of this, you will be expected to work evenings, weekends, nights and public holidays.
