Job Purpose:

To provide specialist, trauma informed welfare benefits, money, debt, and housing advice to individuals affected by alcohol and substance use. Particularly those engaged with recovery Services in Clackmannanshire.

The post focuses on reducing the practical and financial stressors that can function as barriers to recovery, including benefit insecurity, debt, housing instability, and fuel poverty. The role also supports recovery practitioners and partner agencies, enabling them to better support clients while maintaining their strong recovery focus.

You will deliver assistance with DWP and Social Security Scotland paperwork, including assistance with gathering medical evidence, benefit applications, mandatory reconsiderations, and where appropriate, tribunal representation.

Roxburgh and Berwickshire CAB is an independent charity providing advice, information and support to people across our community. We are a friendly team of staff and volunteers working over 4 locations (Eyemouth, Duns, Kelso, and Hawick) delivering a busy advice service. We aim for individuals not to suffer through not knowing or understanding their rights and responsibilities or not being aware of the services available to them. We provide advice and options to our clients so that they can make informed decision and feel empowered to improve their personal circumstance.

Job description:

To ensure the provision and development of quality advice, information and representation on statutory benefits and other social welfare matters in the Scottish Borders.

Key Responsibilities

• Interview clients over the phone, and face-to-face to gather relevant information about their circumstances and identify the areas they require assistance with.

• Research advice areas to identify possible options for the client.

• Improving access to benefit entitlements and maximising income.

• Provide representation for clients at social security first tier tribunals.

• Provide support and guidance on complex cases to CAB staff and volunteers.

• Run outreach sessions across Roxburgh and Berwickshire to enable our clients to access advice within their local community.

• Identify social policy issues to feedback to the wider network to help benefit both local and national social policy campaigns.

• Negotiate with third parties on the client’s behalf to resolve issues they are facing, for example, with employers, benefit agencies, and landlords, etc.

• Coordinate with other specialist advisors and projects within the Citizens Advice Bureau network to ensure clients receive support with complex issues.

• Keep comprehensive records of casework which meet audit requirements, including use of CASTLE case recording system.

• Identify areas for personal development and proactively explore training opportunities to continue your own personal development.

• Keep up to date on relevant legislation and case law relevant to the role.

• Carry out case checking responsibilities to help ensure cases are meeting audit requirements.

• Uphold the principles of Roxburgh and Berwickshire CAB at all times.

We are looking for unique people to join the team at our dementia specific day service in Greenock. Our day services are personalised to the preferences and needs of individuals, providing therapeutic activities with a focus on maintaining skills and independence. The day services in Greenock are open Monday to Friday.

Our Day Services Practitioners are our most important people as they provide front line support. Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia. You will also have good communication skills and a caring attitude. Supporting individuals to keep connected to their communities, engage in their interests and hobbies and access peer support. Contributing to activity development and leading the way towards exciting and new activities to promote brain health.

The use of a car is preferred (mileage and expenses are paid).

A willingness to learn and participate in training (including SVQ’s) and registration with the SSSC is essential. Relevant qualifications and/or experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.

Paisley Arts Festival 2027

OneRen are seeking a dynamic and creative Freelance Arts Festival Programmer to join our team to build on the success of the 2026 Festival.

The second edition of Paisley Arts Festival will take place between 26th – 28th March 2027.

The role of the Associate Programmer is to:

Curate an ambitious, diverse and unique festival programme of performances and events across OneRens cultural venues Paisley Arts Centre and Paisley Town Hall utilising indoor and outdoor spaces.

Collaborate to programme work at national level whilst showcasing local artists.

Ensure the festival programme connects strongly with place to create meaningful engagement with Renfrewshire communities and beyond, offering a platform for high quality work that will appeal to a diverse range of audiences.

The ideal programmer will be bursting with ideas, contacts, be able to bring experience of venue/festival programming and a wide network of contacts nationally across multiple genres.
