We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Regional Family Support Coordinator (RFSC) to support and promote the work of Families Outside in Edinburgh & the Lothians.

Role Summary:

• Hours: 28 hours per week

• Contract: 2-year fixed term contract (renewal subject to funding)

• Starting salary: Families Outside Scale Points 29-34 and updated annually subject to appraisal and where funds allow. Starting salary £29,467 pro rata (0.8FTE)

• Probation period: A probationary period of 6 months will apply.

• Location: Based in Edinburgh, with some work in the Lothians

The Role:

At Families Outside, we're the only national charity in Scotland working solely to support families affected by imprisonment.

Joining the East of Scotland regional team, within our national Family Support Team, the Regional Family Support Coordinator will support people living in the Edinburgh and Lothians area who have a family member in prison. They will:

• Support families at home and in their community via 1:1, family, and/or peer support

• Work closely with key professionals including prison staff and prison visitors centre staff to provide advice, information, and guidance on a range of issues

• Raise awareness with key professionals within the local community about the impact of imprisonment and our work to improve outcomes for families

• Work closely with HMP Edinburgh, contributing to meetings and events that support the rights of children and families affected by imprisonment

About You:

We are looking for an individual who is:

• Experienced in working with, and alongside families in a creative and flexible way

• Rights-focused in their work and all they do

• Trauma-informed and is willing to understand the impact of imprisonment upon families

• Skilled and knowledgeable in working with people to overcome challenges they face in their day-to-day life

• A confident and effective contributor to working in partnership with others to meet families’ needs.

Families Outside is the only national charity in Scotland that works solely to support families affected by imprisonment. Imprisonment can often have a huge impact on the things that matter most to families: money and secure housing, safe and connected relationships at home and in the community, and the emotional health and wellbeing of families. Families Outside is dedicated to providing a range of practical, social, and emotional support to people with someone in prison that are relationship-based, prison-aware, and family-focused.

Play Midlothian is a registered charity (no. SC025474), with an office base at the One Dalkeith Business Hub in central Dalkeith, delivering services throughout Midlothian. Each year, we support over 750 children through over 875 sessions, helping children (and, in some services, their families) to gain skills and confidence, be included and improve wellbeing.

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to help sustain, and, where part of our strategy, grow this work. If you have a track record in securing grant funding, an interest in all forms of fundraising, and excellent communication skills, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

This is a key role at an exciting time for Play Midlothian, as we mark our 30th anniversary and will develop a new website and communications materials.

You will lead on developing and delivering our fundraising strategy, with a strong focus on securing grant income, including from lotteries, trusts and foundations, which currently forms the majority of our funding. Alongside this, you will help us develop other income streams over time, such as individual giving, corporate support and events.

You will be the sole fundraising specialist role at Play Midlothian, however we recognise that effective income generation is supported across the organisation, and you will work in close partnership with the CEO.

In this role, you’ll:

• Support the development of a corporate pipeline through prospect research.
• Support the delivery of cultivation events, proposals and pitches to secure new partnerships.
• Build strong, values-led relationships with corporate partners.
• Work with colleagues across services to identify opportunities and gather impact stories.
• Contribute to partnership activity that supports income growth and engagement.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• Experience in income generation or working in a target-driven environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise and engaging fundraising copy and promotional materials.
• The ability to build meaningful relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire (HSGNNL) is seeking committed individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of parents and young children, can think strategically and independently, communicate effectively, and are committed to equality, diversity, inclusion, and the charity’s values, to join its Board of Trustees. In particular, we are keen to hear from those with a back ground in IT, finance and law.

Trustees play a key role in ensuring HSGNNL fulfils its mission and operates effectively. They are responsible for the charity’s overall governance, strategy, financial oversight, and risk management, while supporting and constructively challenging the Senior Management Team. Trustees work collectively to guide the organisation, monitor performance, review policies and finances, and promote HSGNNL’s aims and reputation using their skills, knowledge, and networks.

HSGNNL is a community-based charity providing trained volunteer and specialist support to families with young children during difficult times. It supports families with at least one child under five living in North Glasgow and North Lanarkshire, helping those affected by challenges such as mental and physical health issues, isolation, domestic abuse, trauma linked to the asylum process, and multiple births. Families are referred by professionals including Health Visitors, Social Work, Midwifery and Education, or can self-refer. Alongside volunteer home visiting, the charity also offers group activities, intensive family support, Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), and perinatal support. Over the last year we have worked in partnership with NHS colleagues, in particular midwifery, and other third sector partners to establish an Early Years Family Hub which we are keen to develop further.
