Fresh Start is an Edinburgh-based charity supporting people moving on from homelessness to settle into a new home with dignity. We provide practical, household essentials through services like our Starter Packs, alongside wider support that helps people build stability and connection in their community.
With rising demand and a strong reputation built over years of delivery and partnership, Fresh Start has grown significantly in reach and impact. We’re now entering an ambitious five-year growth phase and are recruiting new Trustees to bring skills, insight and leadership to help strengthen governance and support sustainable, values-led expansion.

Context
At Rock Trust, our people are our greatest asset. As the organisation grows, we are introducing arole to ensure our staff have continued access to excellent HR support, including recruitment, on-boarding, induction, Learning and development and talent management.
Working with the People and Business Support Manager and colleagues across the organisation, you will deliver all aspects of people support, management and development.
This is a role that would be ideal for an aspiring HR Manager looking to develop their HR career working with an experienced CIPD qualified People Manager, and in an organisation that, although growing, is small enough to offer experience across the full range of HR practice. Some previous HR experience is essential.

About the service
The Moving Forward Service, delivered by Cyrenians, supports young people aged 15–19 in Edinburgh who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). It provides early-stage employability support through a relationship-based, outreach approach. The service works both with young people - mainly in East Edinburgh- and their families across the city to address barriers and help them move towards positive outcomes.
About the role
This is a role combining Family Support Worker (3 days) and Young Person Keyworker (2 days).
- With young people: provide one-to-one, strengths-based support to help them identify goals, build confidence, and progress into education, training, or employment. This includes action planning, attending appointments, and working with partner agencies.
- With families: offer tailored, person-centred support on issues such as financial hardship, wellbeing, and access to services, including home visits and signposting.
The role involves lone working, outreach, multi-agency collaboration, safeguarding responsibilities, and maintaining accurate records. It also includes contributing to service delivery, monitoring, and ongoing development.
About you
You should be motivated, resilient, and organised individual committed to supporting disadvantaged young people and families. You have experience working with young people and/or families facing complex challenges, and understand issues linked to deprivation.
You can work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively, manage your workload, and build strong relationships. Experience in employability pathways, welfare support, or outreach work is beneficial but not essential.
How we’ll support you
You’ll be working independently but with a supportive line manager. You will also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.

Community Gardener (weekends)

This opportunity within our Midlothian Community Hospital Gardens could be perfect for you!
About the project
We support people in our community garden to feel part of something, learn new skills and create a place where people feel closer to nature.
The focus is on creating and managing a programme of gardening and landscaping activities for people on community payback orders to participate in. We support a maximum of four people at a time to help create and maintain a beautiful space for the hospital and the local community to enjoy.
About the role
You’ll work closely with those on community payback orders and community volunteers to:
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of the garden
- Support those on community payback orders to learn new skills
- Help create a community space where everyone feels welcome
About you
We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest and knowledge of gardening and working in the outdoors. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy working with people and be able to inspire and motivate, while maintaining strong professional boundaries.
There will be great opportunities for you to learn and develop, while sharing your skills and experiences.
How we’ll support you
Although the role largely involves lone working, you’ll be part of an experienced, knowledgeable team, with a supportive manager. You’ll also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning programme, and staff wellbeing services.

Data Coordinator (maternity cover)

About the Fundraising Team
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do at Cyrenians, with those we support and those who support us too. It's an exciting time to join our fundraising team. Following a period of rapid growth we're now expanding and you can play an integral role in the future of our fundraising activity. To support that, we recently moved our data to a CRM called Beacon which records income from our funding streams, key relationships and funding applications.

- Using Beacon to record income and relationships
- Supporting colleagues across the organisation to use Beacon
- Analysing data to inform future campaigns
About you
- Experience of data analysis
- Experience of using a system like a CRM
- A proactive self-starter

As part of the Fundraising Team, you’ll be welcomed by both new and experienced colleagues with a passion to tackle homelessness and its root causes. We’ll support you to learn about our systems, introduce you to our colleagues across the charity and give you opportunities to attend training and networking events.
