We are currently seeking to enhance our Board of Directors through the recruitment of suitable volunteers. A commitment to young people and youth work is essential and experience in GDPR, management of voluntary organisations or strategic development would be advantageous.

The Board of Directors meet bimonthly at our main office in Dumbryden Drive. Meetings are in the evening but the dates of meetings are agreed by Board Members. There is no remuneration for Board Members, however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Community Volunteers Enabling You (COVEY) has been a lifeline for children, young people and families across Lanarkshire since 1992. We provide 1-1 and group-based befriending, mentoring and family support services tailored to those who need it most. Our mission is to help children, young people and families become more resilient, safe and better equipped to reach their full potential.

We are now recruiting a Financial Wellbeing Adviser to strengthen the financial stability and long-term resilience of the families we support. This new role will embed expert, relationship-based money, energy and debt advice within COVEY’s family support model, ensuring families receive holistic support at the earliest opportunity.

As Financial Wellbeing Adviser, you will lead the development and delivery of COVEY’s financial wellbeing offer providing welfare benefits support, income maximisation, budgeting guidance, energy advice and debt triage/advocacy. You will work closely with Service Managers, Family Support Workers and external partners to ensure advice is accurate, trauma-informed and fully integrated into wider support plans. You will also maintain clear referral pathways for specialist or regulated debt advice, ensuring compliance with FCA boundaries and best practice.

What We’re Looking For

• Significant experience delivering money, energy or debt advice to individuals or families, ideally within community, youth or family support settings
• Strong knowledge of welfare benefits, income maximisation, budgeting support, energy efficiency measures and debt solutions
• Understanding of the causes and impact of poverty on children, young people and families and the stigma around financial hardship
• Experience working with vulnerable individuals using trauma‑informed, person‑centred approaches with the ability to convey complex information sensitively
• Confidence using data and CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, AdvicePro) to monitor performance, maintain accurate case records and report on outcomes
• Experience collaborating with multi‑agency partners and advocating on behalf of families to achieve positive outcomes

Midlothian Young Peoples Advice Service (MYPAS) promotes the health and wellbeing of young people across East Lothian, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders and currently focuses on working in the areas of mental health and substance use. MYPAS is a community-based organisation with charitable status and based in Dalkeith.

Working as part of busy Core Team, the post holder will offer administrative and fundraising support to MYPAS management and service teams designed to contribute towards MYPAS aims and objectives. The key areas of focus for this role are:

1. Administrative support
2. Meeting and events support
3. Communications co-ordination including social media
4. Production of reports and resources.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing administrative support in a service-based organisation, a good knowledge of general office procedures, excellent IT and literacy skills, and the ability to accurately manage databases and spreadsheets.

Due to recent funding, Includem needs capable workers to lead the provision of relationship-based support delivered to young people and families in the community and to promote positive outcomes in line with the values and principles of includem.

Purpose of Role

The postholder will manage their own caseload ensuring support plans are developed with the young person to respond to their individual needs and supporting them to improve outcomes in line with GIRFEC principles and includem’s model of support.

A project worker will demonstrate leadership and ownership over effective service delivery to young people by managing outcomes for young people through use of line managers, colleagues and organisational tools, processes, policies and procedures.

What does the role involve?

You will deliver bespoke support to young people and their families within our teenagers and transitions service. You will be responsible for all aspects of case management, including assessment and support planning. You will work with other professionals in the young person’s life to deliver positive, sustainable change. This is a key role within a busy team.

• To build relationships and deliver outcome based support to young people and families, involving all key stakeholders.
• To be available for young people and families at critical times
• To explore values and attitudes with young people in a supportive manner, to affirm and validate their feelings and ideas, and nurture and confirm their learning
• To ensure a focus on regular and appropriate case progression to help young people and families recognise progress.
• To assess and respond appropriately to situations where young people and/or families may be at risk of harm.
• To actively participate in the delivery of the includem Helpline evening and night service so support is available for young people and families 24/7
• To support with crisis management and generate solutions for young people and families using the Helpline, with risk enablement being at the heart of professional judgement and decision making
