About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Connected Neighbourhoods team, working in partnership
with East Lothian Council to facilitate a strategic approach to active travel infrastructure development and
delivery in the council area, as well as providing support with active travel policies and proposals for the
council's planning and pipeline projects.
As the Senior Project Officer, you will be embedded within East Lothian Council, working in partnership with external
organisations and across council departments to align policy aims and identify and develop opportunities for
investment in active travel. You will support the planning and delivery of active travel interventions and
provide expert support and guidance to ensure that walking, wheeling and cycling are integrated into strategies,
programmes and projects.
The role is based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to East Lothian Council offices and
either Edinburgh or Glasgow hubs.
About you
You should have experience in (at least) one of the following: transport planning, land use planning, urban design,
traffic engineering, sustainable transport project delivery.
You will be an experienced project manager able to work collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders.
You should have the ability to work independently and be able to make decisions with minimal supervision, as well as
have excellent report writing skills.
