Glasgow West Housing Association Ltd is a voluntary, not for profit organisation and a registered charity. With history dating back to 1978, we have a vision of shaping thriving communities. With over 1500 rented properties: Homes are our purpose, service and sustainability is our priority.
The Facilities Services Operative is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, actively assisting and supporting the delivery of sustainable tenancies and neighborhoods. Key duties include cleaning communal areas, conducting security patrols, handling minor repairs, supporting residents, and promoting health and safety practices. A proactive attitude, teamwork, and strong communication skills are essential.
Key Tasks
- Providing effective customer service to those accessing our services. This will include a range of mobile and desk-based duties / services, resident engagement as primary on-site point of contact for dealing with estates / facilities issues as they arise.
- Support residents accessing wider GWHA services, referring issues to other staff as appropriate.
- Undertake a range of facilities duties including but not limited to effective cleaning of common areas, litter picking, fire safety actions, and waste management aligning with our processes.
- Undertaking security patrols across the site, ensuring effective security presence, accurate incident monitoring and reporting, including appropriate internal escalation to line managers / summoning appropriate service as required.
- Contribute to handyperson / neighbourhood support duties including but not limited to changing, lightbulbs and smoke alarm batteries, hang curtains, within occupied homes, clean and clear void properties as appropriate to reflect our service offering in these areas.
- Minor ad-hoc duties as required e.g. unblocking a chute, graffiti removal, turn off a stop cock. Painting of common areas.
- Positively promote, adopt and shape routine Health & Safety control measures.

Community Woodland Assistant

The Community Team deliver a range of projects that respond to community aspirations and seek to address local issues through an asset-based community development approach. This includes community art initiatives, a community woodland project (Castlemilk Park), digital inclusion support, youth work, health and wellbeing activities, a large number of events, community gardening, community food initiatives, and a volunteer development programme – at the centre of all of these is participation and involvement from the local community.

It is a not-for-profit charity registered with the Office of Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and operates under the 2020 Charitable Model Rules.
- Owns and manages 873 rented properties and 8 shared owners
- Leases 4 residential care homes
- Rents 3 commercial units
- Provides a range of factoring services to 937 owner occupiers and commercial units
- Manages the Aspire Business Centre
You will
- Ensure excellent, and cutting-edge innovative and customer focused services for tenants by providing inspirational leadership and vision.
- Drive the strategic direction and growth development of the Association.
- Hold the Senior Management Team accountable for all operations together with holding executive accountability for all operations.
- Develop key strategic partnerships, with all others, to deliver tangible and demonstrable benefits to the Association's customers.
- Promote the organisation's brand and develop the Association's profile, to ensure we are seen as a leading regional and sub-regional and well-respected player within the housing sector.
- Ensure good governance is upheld at all times in line with SHR guidelines.
You should have
- Experience of leading an organisation at a Senior Management level
- Experience of developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships
- Experience of delivering continuous improvement and fostering a culture of innovation in an organisation
- Track record in strategic planning and managing and minimising risk
- Experience of successful strategic financial planning and budget management
- Experience of implementing and adapting effective management control systems.
- Experience of delivering physical and social regeneration and area-based positive change
- Experience of leading in a highly regulated sector.
- Experience of leading organisational change
- Experience of leading a subsidiary
