The Business Development Lead will join a positive, engaged and proactive team who are committed to increasing Changeworks’ impact, accelerating and improving retrofit and alleviating fuel poverty. This key role will secure organisational income by writing, coordinating and submitting tenders and funding bids. You will build excellent stakeholder relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including prospective partners and customers.

You will have in-depth fundraising experience with proven expertise securing funding for projects and services. It is essential to have experience in leading competitive tenders and developing winning proposals as well as securing different sources of income. You will be skilled in constructing clear and effective funding applications, project proposals and tender documents.

WildFish is a charity dedicated to conserving wild fish and their aquatic habitats.

We are looking for a bright and experienced individual, a self-starter with experience of leading high-profile campaigns, to join our team in an exciting new phase of our work to rein in the damaging impacts of salmon farming. You will lead the charity’s Off the table campaign (offthetable.org.uk).

A passion for improving wild fish populations and aquatic habitats is essential. Knowledge of sustainable food systems and the hospitability sector would be a plus. You'll play a pivotal role in amplifying our voice in the media and driving awareness of the critical issues facing wild fish populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Helping to develop, manage and drive forward the Off the table (OTT) campaign and communications
• Building links and partnerships with external stakeholders in the hospitality sector, media, charity/voluntary sector and government.
• Maintaining a suite of communication aides, including website, hard copy and/or digital communications, images, video, film – to support the narrative.
• Acting as a campaign spokesperson, in the media and at conferences (this may include international travel).
• Working with our campaigning team to increase awareness of the damaging impacts and unsustainability of salmon farming.
• Supporting with investigations/research into salmon farming industry in Scotland.

Personal Requirements

• Demonstrable experience of running a multi-stakeholder campaign with successful outcomes.
• A confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who is comfortable talking to a diverse range of stakeholders with different interests, perspectives and personalities.
• Prepared to take the initiative and manage own workload, reacting to shifting priorities as required.
• Able to travel around UK and occasionally internationally.
• IT skills (Microsoft Office, GIS, website management, social media) and project planning, organisation and delivery experience.

Desirable

• Academic training or equivalent practical experience in a relevant environmental/ biological discipline.
• Experience of digital campaigning

• Salary: £30,000–£35,000 (dependent on experience).

The Role:

As Strategic Asset Manager at the National Park Authority, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering an ambitious estates strategy that enhances the value, sustainability, and impact of our assets.

This role has been created to add bandwidth at a management level, ensuring the effective management of our estate. You’ll work closely alongside the existing post holder, collaborating to make strategic decisions on asset investment, disposal, and long-term site management. Together, you’ll develop and implement a visionary five-year estate management plan, shaping the future of our sites while championing sustainability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive estates strategy that outlines plans for asset disposal, investment and maintenance of existing sites. This strategy will ensure that decisions are aligned with the NPA’s long-term goals and priorities, maximizing the utility and sustainability of the estate. This includes considering the organisational position in relation to policy matters affecting the estate.
• Evaluate and recommend strategies for the NPA’s assets, including identifying sites for potential disposal, areas that require investment for improvement or enhancement and those that will maintain their current state to ensure ongoing operational effectiveness.
• Whilst the day-to-day tenancy management is delegated to the Tenancy Officer, the Strategic Aset Manager holds overall responsibility for ensuring that tenancy agreements are adhered to and that tenants/operators of NPA facilities meet high standards of contractual compliance.
• Working cross-organisationally, lead the process to develop individual site management plans covering the maintenance and operation of NPA sites. When finalised, this will transfer into the operational responsibility of the Construction and Maintenance Manager.
• Working in partnership with the Construction and Maintenance Manager to establish the Estates budget each year, aligned to the Annual Operational Plan, based on prioritisation of maintenance and statutory requirements. Once approved, manage workload in line with this and ensure that financial procedures and reporting are adhered to.
• Working with the Legal Services Team, and other teams as required, to ensure that tenancies are managed effectively and efficiently. Where appropriate, provide clear instructions to the Legal Services Team as the client to enable any matters to be resolved.
• Supporting the Tenancy Officer through undertaking necessary communications and engagement with interested parties including landowners, commercial operators and the wider community to secure support in the delivery of Estates Team priorities.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required.
