How we do this by creating real-life experiences and positive adult relationships in professional kitchen settings that help shine a light on the strengths and aspirations of young people.

We’re currently looking for a talented, experienced catering professional to join the frontline team in our exciting new café site at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

The successful candidate will be an experienced catering all-rounder; a talented cook with experience of looking after complex kitchen processes. Someone with a strong track record of monitoring and maintaining rigorous and detailed HACCP systems, managing food prep and service at the very highest standards of hygiene and safety.

They will also be deeply passionate about maximising the potential of all young people, and be ready to create a kitchen environment that supports and welcomes young people with diverse backgrounds and unmet needs. Our Kitchen Manager will therefore be ready to inspire and be inspired by young people. Working with placements on our employability programme will be part of the fabric of the job, supporting many in what might be their first professional environment, so compassion, patience and a non-judgemental approach are essentials.

About the Role

This is not your average Kitchen Manager role. This is an exciting opportunity to shape our flagship employability café within the NHS Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, supporting young people to thrive in a professional catering environment. This role sits at the heart of our dynamic charity, and is critical to delivering both strong business outcomes and meaningful social impact.

The role is the central operational lead in our newly opening café at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, leading on compliance and logistics by maintaining the very highest standards of hygiene and due diligence, and coordinating with wider NHS facilities management systems to make sure the café is seamlessly integrated with building operations.

This role is also critical to maintaining the function of the café and kitchen as a learning and employment environment for vulnerable young people. A core part of the work will therefore be the delivery of supportive in-work training and activity, providing young people with professional skills and confidence.

The role will provide day-to-day leadership for a dedicated team of four workers and two volunteers, and be supported by experienced Scran catering staff who will assist with on-site support for the initial weeks after opening. Full operational and pedagogical training will be provided through a thorough induction process to ensure the post holder is equipped to succeed in this impactful and rewarding role.

The role is an operational lead in our newly opening café at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, leading customer service by providing a warm welcome and positive atmosphere for customers and workers alike. The role will be of critical support to the Kitchen Manager in ensuring compliance and logistics are maintained to the very highest standards of hygiene and due diligence, and that the café is seamlessly integrated with building operations.

Communicating the impact and stories of the café will be an important function of this role, and social media and building communications will sit in the Front of House lead remit.

We have an exciting opportunity for a family focused, warm friendly, resourceful and empathetic individual to join our newly extended Disability Service as a Family Worker.

About Options Ayrshire

Options Ayrshire is a busy respite care unit for children and young people with additional support needs, including complex learning and physical disabilities. As well as providing short residential breaks the service offers outreach to families and is also involved in the managing and running of an after school club as well as a busy Easter and summer play scheme. Our disability support service offers a safe, homely environment for a child to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. During that break, children enjoy a range of fun activities and experiences with our staff who specialise in taking care of children with disabilities. Our service is very much a ‘home from home’ for the children who stay with us there.

We are excited to announce that we are extending our Options Ayrshire Service to include a family service. This new service, where this post will be based, will be working with families either in their own homes or out in the community to support with both emotional and practical help.

What we are looking for....

As a Family Worker, you will offer emotional and direct practical help to families experiencing short- or long-term challenges. You will work with families; identifying areas where support is required, working with them to co-produce a family support plan which will be individually tailored to their child’s and family’s needs. You will agree outcomes and personal goals within the child’s plan.

The role of the Family Worker will be diverse and wide ranging and will include the following:

• Promote and develop healthy routines, including sleep.
• Provide practical support with personal care.
• Support the development of play routines.
• Support parents to address difficulties and reduce risks.
• Build upon parents existing knowledge and equip them with enabling strategies and tools.
• Support families to have positive and rewarding relationships.
• Support families to implement structure, identify triggers and understand the function and purpose of their child’s behaviour and reduce challenges from escalating.

Along with families, liaise and work with partners and colleagues from Social Work, Health and Education to assess, review and evaluate progress.

You will have experience of supporting children and families with a learning disability and Autism. You will have up-to-date knowledge of best practice and supporting tools and interventions.

You will manage your own diary, and your hours will be 20 per week, worked flexibly between 7am and 10pm, Monday to Sunday. The days and hours worked will be agreed with families within the family support plan. There may also occasionally be a need to provide additional support out with these times and to be able to respond to crises and family stress.

Western Isles Rape Crisis Centre is looking to recruit an experienced support worker to join our team. The overall aim of the post is to provide one-to-one support to survivors of sexual violence.

For this role we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours, flexible start and finish times, or compressed hours.

A clean driving licence and use of own car is essential to this post.
