We’re looking for a pro-active, methodical and well organised co-ordinator with excellent communication skills. We need someone who is passionate about supporting Highland communities to improve energy efficiency and tackle fuel poverty to be our Highland Energy Community Partnership Co-ordinator and Engagement Officer.

The Highland Energy Community Partnership (HECP) an exciting new programme funding by The National Lottery Community Fund and coordinated by Changeworks, in partnership with six community partners across Highland. We’re looking for someone who can co-ordinate activities across all of our public sector and community partners while also ensuring activities meet the requirements of the National Lottery.

A key component of this role is engagement with the local installer network working to establish and communicate their needs through focused research and engagement activities. The partnership is ambitious in its aim to establish a local supply chain for retrofit activities and this role is key to identifying local solutions across the partnership.

The project will build collaboration across implementing partners and beyond, aiming to improve community knowledge of energy efficiency, provide advice to individual households and intensive support to those most in need while supporting the establishment of a local supply chain for domestic retrofit. Sharing learning across the partnership and beyond you will support the partnership board in delivering this transformative five-year project.

We are looking for an individual who can combine their project experience, collaborative working style and innovative thinking to deliver the ambitions of the Highland Energy Community Partnership.

About The Role

The Low Carbon Communities Team is a small, dynamic team that has a new focus to its work, exploring how community engagement can support householders to become more energy efficient and actively supporting people to move towards action. The team delivers a number of projects with the support of partners and funders across Scotland and is currently testing different approaches to community engagement to understand where the greatest impacts can be achieved.

We’re looking for a new Low Carbon Communities Officer to join us, to help smoothly and successfully deliver our projects. The ideal candidate will be very organised and enjoy working in a team that encourages creativity and peer support. They will always know where they are against project plans and be thinking ahead to the next step. This is a role that is people-oriented so they will also be a strong communicator, a confident public speaker and enjoy working with project stakeholders and community groups.

While this vacancy is advertised at 0.8 FTE there is potential for the post to be extended to full-time and offered on a permanent basis in the future. This can be discussed in advance or at interview.

About the Worker Support Centre

The Worker Support Centre (WSC) is a Scotland based charity that promotes decent work and prevents exploitation. We support marginalised and isolated workers in labour sectors where there is a high risk of abuse and exploitation. We work in partnership with workers to build power to secure and advance workplace rights. We prevent human trafficking for forced labour by acting to reduce the risks of worker exploitation. WSC values include: respect for human rights, representation, transparency, equality and innovation.

WSC support includes advice, mediation, advocacy and assisted reporting to enforcement agencies. Our worker engagement informs policy change activity to address harms faced by those in high-risk work. In 2023 and 2024 WSC activities were targeted at workers in seasonal agriculture on the UK Seasonal Worker visa (SWV). About the role

This role is focussed on advancing seasonal agricultural workers’ rights by supporting WSC’s peer engagement work including actively conducting outreach to workers and facilitating worker education and power sessions. In this role you will support WSC meet two of its four core objectives to work together with workers to claim spaces for power and representation in decision making; and to build the field of knowledge about workers and their experiences to influence policy. This role will work closely together with our Peer Engagement team and Outreach Caseworkers.

WSC strives to achieve representation of individuals with lived experience of the issues on which we work at all levels of our organisation and actively promote applications from individuals with experience of the issues on which we work. For this role we would especially welcome applications from individuals with experience of working in seasonal agriculture.
