Dean and Cauvin Young People’s Trust is one of Edinburgh’s oldest and established charities, providing residential group living and community, family and group work support to children, young people and families. Role:
This is an opportunity to come and join us as a support worker in our Community and Transition team. Based in our St. Johns Road Wellbeing Hub, our team provide a range of practical, social and emotional 1:1, group and whole-family support to children, young people and families who have experiences of care to help them:
• Move on from residential living to independent life and living in the community
• Develop healthy relationships, connections and mental wellbeing
• Build confidence, education, skills and training
We work together with families, social work, health services and other colleagues to keep the strengths, aspirations and voice of children, young people and families at the heart of all we do while ensuring their safety and welfare is always maintained.

We are looking for someone who:
• Is skilled in delivering a range of 1:1 and group interventions and supports,
• Can work in a values-led and rights focused way
• Has an understanding of the difficulties faced by young people who are or have recently been ‘looked after’ in a care setting.
• Is passionate about working alongside children, young people and families
• Is able to build strong and effective relationships with young people who can be under-represented.
• Can develop and implement support that actively engages young men in community activities.
• Is able to deliver new ways of working including working mornings/evenings and weekends.
• Can foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages young people's participation and can support our young people to participate fully and influence the delivery of the service.
• Is committed to delivering The Promise.

Our Community and Transition team work closely with our residential house teams, young people who live with us and their families and young people who have lived with us who are now requiring support in the community or supported living in one of our community flats.
In the coming year, our primary focus will be on engaging with the young men we support as well as children, young people and families from the wider community. We will also be prioritising young people's participation by developing:
• Tailored Support : Develop opportunities specifically designed to meet the interests and needs of the young men we support. This could include sports, technology, or vocational training.
• Community Events: Organise events that bring together young people, their families, and the wider community.
• Feedback Mechanisms: Support young people to voice their opinions and suggestions through our participation groups and that will feed back to our newly developed Young Person Committee

If you are someone who can make a difference for young people and have relevant experience with social work, youth/community/family work or other relevant experiences then we want to hear from you.
The successful applicant will be required to register with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The minimum educational requirement for this post is SCQF Level 7.
