We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative person to oversee our Mental Health Youth Commission and our Youth Reference Group.

A hybrid role, you will:

• Developing the Mental Health Youth Commission, including co-designing and honing the programme of work with the Youth Commissioners; working towards the outcomes as developed
• Developing the Youth Reference Group (a group of young people who work with our Board to make sure young people are included in, and informing, decision making at every level) to ensure it’s running well, that participants and the Board are satisfied of such, and that it’s achieving its outcomes
• Embed and strengthen ties between our Participation work and other aspects of the Charity, particularly our Youth Work practice, as well as championing our Participation work externally

• Oversee the Trans Rights Youth Commission (TRYC), ensuring that Commissioners are supported in their role and that regular development days occur
• Provide support to our two Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) and their work within the Scottish Youth Parliament, including attending sittings of parliament and working with the MSYPs on submitting motions

The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the development and delivery of individual marketing and communication plans to promote every aspect of Trust activity to raise the profile of the Trust and develop key audiences. The role holder identifies new opportunities to engage with audiences and markets through promotional materials and creative campaigns including marketing across digital platforms, direct marketing, website development and public relations.

Role summary

Future Economy is looking for an experienced Advocacy and Engagement Lead to build strong working relationships across political parties in Scotland, shaping policy in Scotland and achieving political change. This role will also involve creating, maintaining and building strong relationships with MSPs and other policymakers, as well as key stakeholders in civil society, campaign groups and trade unions. The role is an opportunity to join a small, dynamic and purpose-driven team focused on driving progressive change across Scotland. The role involves working closely with the Co-Directors in a fast paced environment to support the delivery of a democratic, sustainable and just future. This role is Scotland-based with regular meetings in Edinburgh. Candidates have to live or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance to Edinburgh.

To note, this job is not a campaign role and does not involve movement or coalition building. Instead, the aim of the role is to ensure that Future Economy Scotland’s work successfully shapes the policy and political agenda in Scotland, and is informed by and useful to wider climate and economic movements and campaigns.

Location: Within reasonable commuting distance from Edinburgh due to regular meetings at Parliament and with other associated stakeholders. Please note, employees currently work from home, but should you prefer to work from an office, we are open to resourcing a co-working space, budget permitting
