About the Role:

MDWA is a dedicated provider of support services for women, children, and young people who have experienced domestic
abuse. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience as a Chief Executive or through a similar role,
preferably within a similar organisation. You will combine financial acumen and governance expertise with the
proven ability to foster partnerships and deliver results. Your strong communication and influencing skills,
paired with the ability to motivate and lead high-performing teams, will be crucial.
Your Impact:
As CEO, your primary mission will be to lead the organisation through a range of engaging and supportive activities,
including:
- To lead the Team in delivering all aspects of MDWA’s work including the delivery of our Domestic Abuse Services,
finance, fundraising, business and partnership development, administration, facilities management, human
resources, health and safety, ICT and internal and external communications.
- To support a positive
women-centred culture in all aspects of the Charity's operations, placing person-centred care and recovery
at the heart of our services and ensuring the service delivers to the Care Inspectorate Housing Support
Framework and SSSC requirements.
- To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and
delivery of good practice in all aspects of the Charity’s work, including accounting to funders for our work and
meeting all funding conditions including reporting requirements.
- To work to raise the profile of the
Charity with external stakeholders, representing MDWA on Groups like MARAC, MATAC and VAWG and to a high
professional standard including in print, social media and broadcast media.
- To support MDWA’s activities
as it seeks to grow and develop its resources and develop itself as a provider in excellent services for women,
designing and championing new opportunities and partnership development.
- To influence and represent the
Charity externally at a high level, including within the national Scottish Women’s Aid network, with Scottish
Government and at a regional level. Build effective partnerships with others who align to our values and
philosophy.

We are a Registered Charity SC022169. Operating as a Scottish Charity for 20 years we have been delivering vital
services for women and children across Motherwell district. MDWA’s vision is of a society, in which women,
children and young people are full and equal participants, free from the threat of abuse, violence or
injustice.
Our posts are open to women only applicants as we are a woman only service, covered by the occupational requirement
exemption under the Equality Act 2010.
What You Bring:
We’re looking for individuals with:
- Significant senior experience in a related role
- Significant experience of operating in a senior
leadership position
- Knowledge of the impact of domestic abuse and associated trauma and its
origins
- Ability to lead change and improvement programmes in a way that secures buy in
- A
person-centred approach and an awareness of the health and well-being at the core of every
decision
- Significant experience and a demonstrable track record in developing and successfully
delivering service plans and new service business planning
- Experience of working closely with a Board or
equivalent, advising and guiding robust decision making and strategic planning
- Experience of financial
management including forecasting, cashflow, budget setting, business planning and monitoring income and
expenditure
- Experience of risk strategy and management
- Experience of fundraising & income
generation
