Cancer Card is a national charity whose mission is to ensure no one faces cancer alone, providing a compassionate, personalised service that connects people affected by cancer with the right support, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Founded in 2021 by Jen Hardy MBE, an Edinburgh resident who has stage 4 incurable secondary breast cancer, Cancer Card has grown in reputation and reach and has expanded its offering, which now includes an online support hub, comfort boxes and service support officers.
The CEO of the charity, Ian Pirrie, has recently announced his retirement and we are delighted that Ian has agreed to step into the role of Chair for the charity, ensuring continuity of his knowledge and experience of Cancer Card and the wider cancer support environment.
Cancer Card now has ambitious and exciting plans to become even more impactful and needs an inspiring and dynamic CEO to take these forward and ensure that the incredible legacy that Jen has built continues to thrive and grow.
This is an exciting opportunity to strategically lead the charity through a period of planned growth, increasing income to fund this and ensuring that the operation is both resilient and scalable.
The CEO will be a strategic partner to the Chair and the wider Board, shaping and executing financial management that balances growth with cost control, and supporting the chair to engage with potential sponsors, funders and partners.
The role requires an authentic, compassionate and dynamic leader with high resilience, who is both able to lead Cancer Card into this next phase with authority and impact, roll up their sleeves to make a real difference and deliver positive change to the cancer community.
To apply for the role, please send your CV and covering letter to i.pirrie@cancercard.org.uk. Ian is also available for an informal chat prior to application.
