Role

Change Mental Health is a leading national mental health charity providing unique support to people with severe and enduring mental ill health. With over 50 years’ experience across Scotland, we believe people affected by poor mental health and illness deserve the highest quality of support in the community and that every person has the right to be valued and to share in the opportunities, challenges, and joys of everyday life.

About the Role

As a SBS Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and practical support to individuals who have been bereaved by suicide. You will work within a team of practitioners, who work closely together and support each other on a daily basis.

Your work will require you to establish trust quickly, build relationships and to have excellent listening skills. You will develop a wide knowledge of support services and can build and maintain excellent relationships with partner agencies. You will be able to work on your support autonomously, being able to judge when to refer to your manager.

As a Practitioner, you will work within the Suicide Bereavement Support Service pilot framework to ensure that you follow all necessary protocols and procedures and take a role in developing the service. You will keep accurate records and actively contribute to ongoing evaluation of the service. You will undertake training, as agreed with your manager, prior to supporting service users and will continue to access relevant training throughout your time in the role.

You will also support the Suicide Bereavement Support Project Manager in their role to meet national and funder criteria.
