MULTICULTURAL FAMILY BASE is a unique, community based social work centre based in Edinburgh. Approximately 50% of our workforce are from a BME background.
The organisation’s key objective is to support Black and Minority Ethnic individuals, children and parents deal with important transition points - this can be the birth of a child, the move into primary school or the move to Edinburgh for families who are new migrants. In addition, we combine our service delivery with student learning by providing high quality and diverse placement opportunities for social work students from academic institutions across Scotland.

Project Worker in Bright Choices project
The Bright Choices Project offers practical and emotional support and advice to women, children and men from Black and Minority Ethnic communities who are experiencing, or at risk of, Honour-Based Violence (HBV), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other harmful practices relating to cultural belief systems and pressures.
You will have a relevant professional qualification and experience of group and individual work with people affected by HBV who are likely to experience disadvantage or discrimination due to their race, ethnicity or cultural backgrounds.
You will be engaging service users in group work and will have knowledge of the key issues as well as relevant experience of working within a therapeutic, community development role in 1:1 setting.
You will be facilitating Creative Nurture Group in collaboration with an Art Therapist once a week, working with women affected by HBV.
A strong commitment to anti-oppressive practice and equal opportunities is essential. The posts require membership of the PVG Scheme.

This post holder will specifically have a lead role, developing community engagement and delivering community events. It is essential that the availability of the service is flexible to when support is needed-including daytime, evenings, and weekends.

We are also determined that the full incorporation of the UNCRC means that children will have their rights respected in all areas of their lives and will have a real say in the way they are supported. This is a permanent post. We have one full time equivalent post (35 hours a week), but we would like to hear from anyone who would like to explore a reduced hours arrangement. Please identify your preferred working pattern/availability in your application.

Barnardo's Highland are looking for an Individual to work across a Residential Service (Northern Lights) and A Through Care and AfterCare Service (Springboard)
Northern Lights is a beautiful home on the outskirts of Inverness providing a safe, warm and supportive environment for up to five young people who have had adverse childhood experiences.
The service seeks to improve the lives of these Children and Young people through the use of a rights based, trauma informed approach. The team working with the children will enrich their lives through care, support and activities which will be aimed at raising self-esteem, promoting a sense of mastery, and enabling the children to access experiences that are individually tailored to their interests and nurture their talents. The team will work with the wider partnership to ensure that Educational and Health needs are met.
Due to the nature of the service, it is vital that individuals are flexible and responsive to the needs of the children they are supporting.
Springboard is commissioned by the Highland Council to provide a throughcare and aftercare service to young people aged 16-26 years who are leaving care in Highland.
The successful applicant will work directly with young people who are moving on from Northern Lights, supporting them to achieve their full potential. They will be required to have strong assessment skills and experience in report writing and recording. You will be required to asses need and co-ordinate a plan of support for young people, offering advice and guidance to enable young people to work towards agreed outcomes to aid the transition to independence. Experience of managing a caseload would also be preferable.
