Role

Celtic FC Foundation in partnership with the Fuel Bank Foundation are seeking to recruit an Energy Advisor who will work directly with individuals and families experiencing fuel poverty, providing advice and support to help them manage energy consumption, reduce bills, and access financial assistance.

Working within Celtic FC Foundation, the Energy Advisor will play a crucial role in guiding vulnerable households toward energy efficiency solutions, improving their overall well-being, and helping them navigate challenges related to rising energy costs. The role provides a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those affected by fuel poverty, helping them stay warm, safe, and financially secure.

Key accountabilities:

Client Support & Advice

  • Offer tailored energy advice to individuals and families on reducing energy consumption and improving household energy efficiency
  • Assist clients in understanding their energy bills and suggest ways to switch to more affordable tariffs
  • Provide practical tips on managing heating and electricity usage effectively, especially during colder months

Access to Assistance:

  • Help clients access fuel bank support, including emergency energy vouchers or fuel top-ups, and advise on other financial aid
  • Assist clients in applying for energy-related benefits or charitable funding for essential home repairs related to heating or insulation

Energy Efficiency & Sustainability:

  • Offer advice on simple home improvements that can enhance energy efficiency, such as insulation, draught-proofing, and smart meter installation
  • Educate clients on renewable energy sources and sustainable practices where appropriate

Collaboration & Outreach:

  • Work closely with local authorities, utility companies, housing associations, and community groups to ensure clients receive holistic support
  • Attend community events, workshops, and outreach programs to raise awareness of fuel poverty and energy-saving initiatives
  • Refer clients to appropriate agencies or services when additional support is needed (e.g., debt advice, health services, housing support)

Data Collection & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, support provided, and outcomes
  • Produce regular reports on the impact of the fuel bank services, identifying trends and areas for improvement

Essential Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of energy tariffs, fuel poverty, and support schemes related to energy consumption
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable clients
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and track progress
  • Experience in advisory, advocacy, or community support roles, particularly within the energy or welfare sector

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in working with a fuel bank or charitable organisation addressing fuel poverty.
  • Understanding of home energy efficiency measures and renewable energy options
  • Familiarity with utility company procedures and benefits systems related to energy assistance
  • Knowledge of relevant software or tools for client management and reporting
  • Reliable and adaptable, with the ability to respond and identify sound solutions to operational issues that arise
  • A commitment to delivering the highest standards and a desire for continuous improvement
  • A flexible approach to working hours, with the ability to travel and work outwith the normal working pattern
  • Full UK driving license is required
