Role
PURPOSE OF POST: Engage with Angus communities to promote community development and encourage volunteering, while supporting initiatives that drive positive change. This role helps build a more resilient and sustainable Third Sector in Angus by offering inclusive volunteering opportunities, organisational support, training, and evidence-based interventions.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Build capacity of voluntary organisations, volunteering groups and aspiring social enterprises.
- Create up to date and engaging resources tailored for specific target audiences.
- Identify barriers to volunteering and implement strategies to overcome them.
- Promote volunteering and the benefits to individuals and groups by a variety of means, including community events, delivering information sessions and online sessions
- Create positive working relationships with organisations where there is the potential for people to gain new skills, lead to employment and give back to the community
- Work in partnership with Angus Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) and Community Planning Partnership (CPP) developments at an operational level.
- Develop local empowerment opportunities through meaningful community engagement approaches with local communities, organisations and volunteer movements.
- Build strong working relationships with community workers, key organisations, and local communities to encourage participation and promote coordinated approaches across Angus.
- Collaborate with communities and key partners through consultation, as well as awareness, learning, and training events.
- Coordinate with communities and partners to evaluate needs, including addressing issues raised by community planning partners, and contribute to collaborative efforts.
- Facilitate and develop volunteer management/coordination through providing facilitated forums and sharing best practice.
- Offer communities opportunities to build their capacity and empower them to foster positive and sustainable change, using models of best practice and co-production.
- In collaboration with communities and key partners, create and support new initiatives and opportunities that enhance service delivery
- Assist Community Link Workers in the area by facilitating continuous learning and development, sharing local information, and providing monthly updates.
- Assist in creating and delivering networking, learning, and development opportunities to help organisations and groups meet best practice standards
- Provide guidance on best practice and signpost to funding opportunities
- Help support the start-up of organisations by helping with constitutions and organisational governance support.
- Recognise and report issues and 'knowledge gaps' among volunteers, volunteer-involving organisations, and communities.
- Make links with local health workers to identify other opportunities through VAA online directory system (Community Connector) and other means to ensure people get the right help at the right time.
- First point of contact for all local Third Sector organisations, community/volunteering groups and social enterprises within the locality.
- Engage with communities and groups to establish needs and wants to promote preventive work around mental health and wellbeing.
- Undertake monitoring requirements, report outcomes and provide service updates as required

Purpose: to take forward community and volunteering development as the VAA locality worker within a specific geography. As a locality development worker you will be expected to work at strategic and operational level and take forward the strategic decision making of VAA within locality partnership settings. More specifically post holders are expected to develop a competence in the following areas of work
- Young people and volunteering- working with schools, communities and voluntary orgs to develop further the saltire awards and accredited qualification outcomes.
- To build a capacity of voluntary organisations, volunteering groups and aspiring social enterprises.
- To work in partnership with Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and Community Planning Partnership (CPP) developments at an operational level.
- To develop local empowerment opportunities through meaningful community engagement approaches with local communities, organisations and volunteer movements.
- To promote and develop local volunteering including my street volunteering, and build buoyant volunteering cultures where all people are inspired to volunteer.
- To facilitate and co-facilitate volunteer management and volunteer skills training.
- To facilitate and support local Third Sector forums.
- Support Social prescribers within the area by making links and feeding back.
- Build Community assets and opportunities.
- Help support the start-up of organisations by helping with constitutions and organisations support.
- Work in partnership with our HSCP and CPP colleagues.
- Support volunteering by promotion, identify opportunities and matching individuals.

You will be joining a Fife-wide charity, with a big reach, to support and develop both existing Forums and new platforms which aim to afford Older People the opportunity to participate, engage, influence and shape the issues and agendas that matter to them.
- Are you able to evidence experience of planning and delivering group advocacy or action groups which support people being heard?
- Are you able to self-motivate and work with a degree of autonomy to manage your workload safely and efficiently within a prescribed framework?

Following a strategic review in 2024, we require an experienced Chief Executive who will manage EVOC through a significant period of change as we develop a new strategic approach in response to the needs of the sector in Edinburgh and to create a more resilient, sustainable organisation.
The Chief Executive of EVOC will lead and manage the organisation's operations, ensuring financial sustainability while building strong relationships with our local members, stakeholders, funders and communities. The Chief Executive will work alongside a new Senior Management Team to oversee staff, develop a long-term financial and fundraising strategy and effective project management and delivery.
The Chief Executive will lead a whole-team approach to our work that all EVOC staff are skilled and supported to deliver across a range of issues and themes in a team culture aligned to our values: creative, collaborative, enabling, excellence, fair, inclusive and supportive
The person
We are looking for someone with significant experience in managing and motivating staff – preferably with experience as a Chief Executive or senior role.
The candidate must have a deep knowledge of Edinburgh’s voluntary sector and experience public, private, and voluntary sectors. They should have a proven track record in service development and delivery with an ability to deliver on contract outcomes and key deliverables. Excellent communication skills are required alongside the ability to build effective professional cross-sector relationships.
Financial and project management skills are essential. Experience in developing funding strategies is required, along with a demonstrable ability to develop and implement income generating and fundraising activities.

Senior Development Officer - Employability

Purpose:
The post is a joint commitment between HTSI and the Highland Council and is intended to support strengthening employment outcomes for the people of the Highlands through improving the capacity, scope and influence of third sector employability provision.
The postholder will engage actively with local and national third sector providers to understand their strengths and challenges, identify opportunities for and support partnership working across sectors. They will support third sector employability providers with organisational and business development. They will advocate for the sector strategically on relevant partnership boards and working groups.
