Role

PURPOSE OF POST: Engage with Angus communities to promote community development and encourage volunteering, while supporting initiatives that drive positive change. This role helps build a more resilient and sustainable Third Sector in Angus by offering inclusive volunteering opportunities, organisational support, training, and evidence-based interventions.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Build capacity of voluntary organisations, volunteering groups and aspiring social enterprises.
  • Create up to date and engaging resources tailored for specific target audiences.
  • Identify barriers to volunteering and implement strategies to overcome them.
  • Promote volunteering and the benefits to individuals and groups by a variety of means, including community events, delivering information sessions and online sessions
  • Create positive working relationships with organisations where there is the potential for people to gain new skills, lead to employment and give back to the community
  • Work in partnership with Angus Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) and Community Planning Partnership (CPP) developments at an operational level.
  • Develop local empowerment opportunities through meaningful community engagement approaches with local communities, organisations and volunteer movements.
  • Build strong working relationships with community workers, key organisations, and local communities to encourage participation and promote coordinated approaches across Angus.
  • Collaborate with communities and key partners through consultation, as well as awareness, learning, and training events.
  • Coordinate with communities and partners to evaluate needs, including addressing issues raised by community planning partners, and contribute to collaborative efforts.
  • Facilitate and develop volunteer management/coordination through providing facilitated forums and sharing best practice.
  • Offer communities opportunities to build their capacity and empower them to foster positive and sustainable change, using models of best practice and co-production.
  • In collaboration with communities and key partners, create and support new initiatives and opportunities that enhance service delivery
  • Assist Community Link Workers in the area by facilitating continuous learning and development, sharing local information, and providing monthly updates.
  • Assist in creating and delivering networking, learning, and development opportunities to help organisations and groups meet best practice standards
  • Provide guidance on best practice and signpost to funding opportunities
  • Help support the start-up of organisations by helping with constitutions and organisational governance support.
  • Recognise and report issues and 'knowledge gaps' among volunteers, volunteer-involving organisations, and communities.
  • Make links with local health workers to identify other opportunities through VAA online directory system (Community Connector) and other means to ensure people get the right help at the right time.
  • First point of contact for all local Third Sector organisations, community/volunteering groups and social enterprises within the locality.
  • Engage with communities and groups to establish needs and wants to promote preventive work around mental health and wellbeing.
  • Undertake monitoring requirements, report outcomes and provide service updates as required
