You will be part of Scotland’s leading charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live life to the full again. Our Community Health Support Services form a nationwide network of local support groups, nurses, volunteers and one-to-one support teams helping families adjust to life with a heart or lung condition or after a stroke.

We are looking for a Community Support Coordinator to join our amazing team in the Lothian area. This role is focused on making sure that people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions get the help they need and get back to doing the things that matter to them.

Through our Community Support Services, you will support people to have the confidence and tools to self-manage their health condition and live as independently as possible. You’ll also help people get back to doing the things that are important to them – from simple things like walking to their local shop following a stroke, to returning to a sky-high hobby of gliding!

You’ll be directly involved in supporting people with chest, heart and stroke conditions through both one-to-one and group services in both community and hospital settings. You’ll work with the rest of the Community Support Services team in Lothian, and manage a team of incredible volunteers, to make a real difference to the lives of people with our conditions.

Candidates don’t need to have medical knowledge as training is provided on our health conditions. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities and long-term conditions; an understanding of the challenges faced by people with chest, heart and stroke conditions including Long Covid; an understanding of community service provision; the ability to recruit, manage and motivate a team of volunteers; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will be part of Scotland’s leading charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live life to the full again. The Advice Line service is a free and confidential helpline that supports people living with our conditions to ensure that no life is half lived.

The Advice Line Cost of Living Coordinator will develop a team of volunteers who will provide a telephone support service to people affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, including Long COVID, who are experiencing financial issues in relation to their health condition. This role is home based but occasional travel across Scotland will be required.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with good communication skills who has a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a financial/benefits support/advisor role. Experience of recruiting and line managing volunteers is desirable.

In support of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s No Life Half Lived #2 Strategy, the Advice Line has recently expanded to include a new structure and variety of skill sets to enable a sustainable service that aligns to CHSS’s future vision and strategy. You will be part of Scotland’s leading health charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live life to the full again. Our Community Healthcare Support Service provides access to a range of supported self management and community recovery services to support people across Scotland to manage their health as well as possible and adjust to life after a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or after a stroke.

This is a key role in supporting the Service Delivery team to develop and maintain a high quality and effective insights and evaluation process to support the roll out of the Community Healthcare Support Service Model.

The CHSS Community Healthcare Support service model is a quality supported self-management and community recovery pathway informed by expertise and most importantly, by people with our conditions.

The model includes a range of interventions from clinical support services, structured and evidence based self management workshops, 1:1 community support, health information and more, which are available to everyone with our conditions. Each service is aligned with the principles of supported self management and aims to educate and support individuals to manage their chronic disease.

This model will be evaluated robustly by CHSS within each NHS board in which we work, and we will seek to demonstrate the positive impact that our service delivery can have on patient outcomes, experiences, and on the NHS & social care sector.

They will be the main point of contact for service user evaluation by ensuring that everyone who accesses our services has an opportunity to feedback on their outcomes and experiences in a way that is most accessible to them.

Hours: Full time and permanent. 35 hours a week over core working hours of 10am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. The office is open 8am – 6pm daily and our hybrid working policy requires all full-time employees to work at least two days a week in the Edinburgh office.

About the role and why we need you

To help start new cancer cures and save lives, we are looking for a Research Funding Administrator to join the busy Research team at Worldwide Cancer Research. As Research Funding Administrator, you will be part of the team running the Charity’s multi-million-pound response-mode funding programme for discovery cancer research. Reporting to the Research Funding Manager, you will assist with the processing of funding applications, their review by external experts and the charity’s Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), and the administration and financial management of the resulting awards.

This role will give you the opportunity to make an impact every day and to demonstrate our charity values in your day-to-day work.
