Family Support Worker

Role

Home-Start Stirling is a volunteer-led charity with 24 years’ experience working in local communities, supporting families with a child under the age of 5 in the home. We are currently recruiting for the role of family support worker. Whilst our office is based in Raploch, the successful candidate will be required to support families across Stirlingshire. This role is initially funded for one year.

The families that we support are struggling with daily challenges such as mental health, disability, poverty, domestic abuse, trauma, isolation and loneliness. We provide 1-1 support to families within their homes, a diverse group work programme and additional therapeutic supports.

Key responsibilities:

• An understanding of the needs of children and families

• The ability to support a caseload of families

• Previous experience of working with children and families experiencing challenges and trauma.

• Experience of working in partnership with both statutory services and third sector partnerships

• Good working knowledge of child protection and child development

• Good IT and database skills

• Full driving licence and use of a car is essential.

This post is also subject to registration with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) and therefore the candidate will have to hold a minimum level of HNC/SVQ 3 qualification in a related field.
