The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 2,500 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. We are currently seeking a skilled individual to act as the Treasurer on our Board of Trustees The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing financial matters on behalf of our Board and will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation has robust financial processes to ensure it meets its legal and constitutional requirements.

This role could appeal to a finance professional (accountant or auditor) who is mid-career and wishing to undertake some personal and professional development or to a later career stage professional who is perhaps adjusting their work/life balance or is recently retired, and wishing to use their experience, make a difference and give something back to the community.

This voluntary role would include three/four board meetings a year (currently a mix of in person and online), one of these being our Annual Vision Review Weekend held in March. Attendance at our AGM held online).

Are you looking to make a positive change in society through communications work? At Samaritans Scotland we are seeking a Communications Officer to join our friendly team in Edinburgh.

As Communications Officer, you’ll ensure the smooth delivery of internal and external communications in Scotland, including media and PR. Working across new and existing Samaritans’ campaigns, representing Samaritans to external stakeholders, reacting to the day-to-day news and supporting the development and delivery of a variety of projects.

You’ll be a key driver of our marketing and brand in Scotland. Working with our volunteers, story tellers and partners to support engagement and understanding of our work.

Samaritans Scotland

Join a friendly, supportive, and ambitious staff team in Scotland. Our established Policy and Communications team is working with a range of external stakeholders including the Scottish Government, MSPs and local partners to achieve change and have an impact on suicide risk. There are around 1000 Samaritans volunteers across Scotland working in our 19 branches. These volunteers respond to calls for help every day of the week via telephone, e-mail, text and in person at our branches or at events across Scotland. Our staff team works to support and promote our services and ensure that people know we’re here when they need us.

We also work with the public and the media to inform them about Samaritans and explain how we can help people find their own way forward, as well as supporting the delivery of media guidelines training in Scotland.

About the Role:

As Service Manager, you will manage and lead a team to deliver high quality, safe, secure, accommodation for Care Leavers from the Falkirk Area providing round-the-clock Housing Support, engaging Group Activities, and personalised 1:1 Assistance, where young individuals can thrive to build their skills and confidence to help transition smoothly into independent living with the support of a large fully trained staff team. At Falkirk, there are 2 outreach flats attached to this service and as such transitional work between the 2 services is required. This role is 35 hours per week and will be Monday-Friday.

Main Responsibilities:

As Service Manager, you will:

• Lead, manage and develop the staff team and others where appropriate (e.g. students, trainees etc.) to meet the objectives of the service, delegating tasks where appropriate.
• Promote and encourage the professional development of staff, including onboarding, supervision, core competencies, in-house training and external training.
• Ensure adequate staffing cover is provided for the service at all times by appropriate shift rotas and deployment of employees, both permanent and relief.
• Manage all aspects of the service in line with Blue Triangle, statutory and legislative requirements and take a lead role in the strategic development of the service.

About You:

• To join us, you need to have a genuine passion for helping people.
• You will already be a registered manager with the Scottish Social Services Council, hold a minimum of SCQF Level 7 (SVQ 3) in Social Care but willing to complete an SCQF Level 9 (SVQ4) as soon as possible and have experience of managing and motivating a team.
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to undertake care practice in accordance with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) code of practice, National Care Standards, Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and the Associations policies and procedures.
• Ability to relate empathetically to people and recognise their right to choice and independence.
• Able to use Microsoft or equivalent applications competently.
