The psychologist is a senior role in the charity and will undertake detailed psychological assessments, co-ordinate and deliver therapeutic intervention. The psychologist will provide advice and guidance to the care and education teams, ensuring care and education therapy plans are appropriate to the needs of individual children and achieving positive outcomes. They will work closely with the care and education teams, supporting their work with children and will be involved in evaluating the work of the therapy service and providing impact reports to relevant stakeholders.
The psychologist will report directly to the Chief Executive and will contribute to operational and senior management meetings. They will work closely with the lead managers for education, care, fundraising and human resources, informing and supporting their work.
The psychologist is expected to have a recognised doctoral qualification in Educational psychology or Clinical psychology and will be required to register with the relevant professional bodies. The post will be supervised by an external consultant psychologist with experience working across residential settings. Knowledge and experience of working with children who have experienced trauma is essential.
The successful candidate must be caring and compassionate with a flexible approach and an unswerving commitment to making a difference to vulnerable children.
In order to work with our children, you must be willing to be checked through the Disclosure Scotland PVG scheme. The cost will be covered by Seamab.
