Start Up Stirling is a 30-year-old Stirling based charity whose purposes are: the relief of poverty; the prevention or relief of suffering and distress caused by poverty through the compassionate provision of food and other practical support and services required by the communities we serve in the Stirling Council area, working in partnership with other regional agencies while maintaining the dignity of our beneficiaries.
Primarily we support the community though the provision of a number of foodbanks, starter packs for people starting social rented lets for the first time, and numerous other initiatives such as support for children starting school, and summer holiday activities for children from disadvantaged families.
We are looking to appoint a new Treasurer to join our Board. The Treasurer will; be responsible for overseeing financial matters on behalf of our Board and will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation has robust financial processes in ensure it meets its legal and constitutional requirements. While we encourage and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, we are keen to hear from candidates with a financial management or accounting background.
The role will include around 10 Board meetings a year and attendance at the Annual General Meeting.

Role Description - Treasurer to Board of Trustees – Start Up Stirling
The Treasurer is a Trustee and Member of the Board
Role Purpose: To support the activities of Start Up Stirling, keeping it within its Charitable Objectives
Main Tasks* (see note i below):
1. To take part in formulating and regularly reviewing the strategic aims of Start Up Stirling
2. With other Trustees on the Board, to ensure that Start Up Stirling functions within the legal and financial requirements of a charitable organization and strives to achieve best practice.
3. To guide and advise the Board in the approval of budgets, accounts and financial statements
4. To observe the Code of Practice for charity trustees at all times.
Note i). The current Treasurer also undertakes monthly and annual book-keeping duties including the production of monthly reports, draft annual budgets and production of the annual accounts. He is willing to carry on with these activities in a voluntary capacity subject to discussion with the incoming Treasurer.
