Role

Midlothian Young Peoples Advice Service (MYPAS) promotes the health and wellbeing of young people across East Lothian and Midlothian and currently focuses on working in the areas of mental health and substance use. MYPAS is a community-based organisation with charitable status and based in Dalkeith.

Working as part of busy Core Team, the post holder will offer administrative and fundraising support to MYPAS management and service teams designed to contribute towards MYPAS aims and objectives. The key areas of focus for this role are:

• Administrative support
• Meeting and events support
• Communications co-ordination including social media
• Production of reports and resources.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing administrative support in a service-based organisation, a good knowledge of general office procedures, excellent IT and literacy skills, and the ability to accurately manage databases and spreadsheets.

This post may require evening and occasional weekend work.

Bridges Project is a leading youth work charity that helps young people aged 12-25 in East Lothian and Midlothian overcome challenges and adapt to adulthood. Since 1984, we have helped young people develop their life skills, improve their educational attainment and move into employment or further education. We have a vacancy for a GIRFEC Support Worker to provide bespoke, individually tailored support packages to young people who have been identified as not engaging or coping with mainstream school.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide a mixture of one to one intervention and group learning to young people, including support in areas such as wellbeing, personal and emotional development and employability
• Support young people to gain employability skills, life skills and accreditation; helping them in to work, apprenticeships, further education or vocational training
• Deliver tailored support packages to young people enabling them to create and realise their career pathways and progress in to post school opportunities

It is essential that candidates have a full, clean driving licence with business insurance and constant use of a car. Membership of the PVG scheme will be an essential requirement of the post. A contributory company pension scheme is offered with a 10% employer contribution.

As a member of the board, you'd be shaping our strategic vision, providing good independent judgement and making sure that everything we do is underpinned by strong governance. We are seeking candidates who can contribute the organisation more widely, whether that be taking part in fundraisers or assisting the CEO and team when needed. You would also act as an advocate for NEECS.

The Board of Trustees will review the services provided and develop a new strategic direction for the service. Key skills to support this work will include team-working and collaboration, combined with strong and supportive leadership.

The Board of Trustees are ultimately responsible for the management and administration, but operational delivery of the NEECS’ vision is delegated to the CEO. The CEO is accountable to the board for the efficient management of the charity and for the implementation of board-agreed priorities and business plan.
