Job Introduction

As Policy & Public Affairs Manager you’ll help us achieve our vision of a world where diabetes does no harm. Leading on the development and delivery of policy, public affairs and influencing activity you’ll work alongside people living with, and at risk of, diabetes and collaborate with colleagues within the Scotland team and across the UK to drive change.

Role Responsibility

You’ll work closely with the National Director to influence MSPs, ministers, government officials and senior leaders within the NHS to deliver on our strategic objectives. You’ll make sure that our Diabetes UK policy positions work in a Scottish context and deliver campaigns to turn these positions into action. You’ll produce policy reports, consultation responses and briefings. You’ll keep up to date with what’s happening across Scotland and the rest of the UK in health, horizon scanning to identify issues affecting people living with diabetes.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ve got experience of working in an influencing role in Scottish government, Parliament and ideally the health system. You can build strong relationships with a wide range of people and use these relationships to influence change. You’re great at communicating verbally and can produce top-notch reports as well as compelling cases for change. You’ve got an eye for detail and can translate complex data and policy to help inform our strategic decisions. You’re up for joining a small team at a time of change and being part of shaping our future direction.

We've got a great opportunity for a motivated and experienced social care manager to join us as Branch Leader covering Glasgow & East Dunbartonshire on a full-time, permanent basis.

Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities with over 40 years' experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs across Scotland.

The Role

Working closely with the branch team of Service Leads, Lead Practitioners and frontline colleagues along with support from the Senior Leadership Team and Business Support Leads you will play a key role in supporting with the delivery and implementation of Cornerstone’s Strategic plan.

The main purpose of your role will be to provide effective leadership to your branch, ensuring it meets organisational Key Performance and quality Indicators. You'll be focused and passionate about the delivery of excellent care in line with us ensuring that we are the expert provider to the people we support. You will always look to maximise local business development opportunities, with key collaborative working partnerships with HSCP’s, housing association and all other MDT’s. In additional you will be first point of contact for referrals and oversee tenancy related matters where appropriate.

What we'll need you to bring:

• Experience of working in health & social care.
• Experience of running a local health & social care business, branch or division.
• An understanding of empowerment and coaching versus management and supervision.
• An understanding of developing an empowered workforce.
• Sound business skills such as planning, tender writing, analysis and reporting, networking and income generation.
• Experience of attracting new customers, securing new contracts and successful bid-writing and presentation.
• Knowledge of the political and strategic environment as it relates to social care.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrable experience of good financial management.
• An understanding of relevant statutory regulations and good practice.

It would be great if you also have;

• SVQ Level 8/9 in a relevant discipline or equivalent management qualification.
