Role

Tigh A’Chomainn is a Camphill community providing care and support in the village of Peterculter. We are currently looking for 2 employed co-workers to be part of this team. The successful post holder will work as part of a team delivering flexible and creative support to people with learning disabilities to reach their full potential. This is an extremely exciting time to join as we are currently undergoing an expansion and opening new flats to offer more independent living options.

Overview:We are seeking a dedicated Employed Co-worker to join our team in providing care and assistance to individuals in need. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Duties:Assist service users with personal care tasks- Support service users with daily activities- Provide emotional support and companionship- Help service users access community facilities and services- Assist in maintaining accurate records and reports- Follow care plans and instructions from healthcare professionals

Experience: You will have a proven record as a team player with excellent communication skills; you will have experience and knowledge of the service user group and their surrounding issues. Successful applicants for this post will require membership of the PVG scheme and registration with the SSSC.

The Person

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Preferably 1 year of disability/care/support experience although this is not essential as training is given. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience with adults with learning disabilities in adult residential care.
  • A warm, person-centred approach and the ability to positively engage with adults with learning disabilities or other support needs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work as part of a wider team providing the highest quality care and support adhering to national care standards.
  • A common-sense approach to problem solving and an ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work under their own initiative, taking ownership and responsibility for their role.
  • Ability to work shifts patterns, weekends and bank holidays when required.
  • A flexible, patient and open approach.
  • SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care preferred or a willingness to work towards this.
  • Willingness to participate in training required for the post.
  • PVG scheme membership/willingness to join.
  • SSSC registration/willingness to register with SSSC.
  • You must be able to travel to and from work (we are on a good bus route).

The Details

  • We are a 24-hour service and rotas will involve early, late, weekend and sleepover shifts.
  • We are also always looking for people who would like to join our relief bank.
  • £12.00 per hour on a 40 hour working week.
