The suitable candidate will lead our West of Scotland and Orkney services, with a mixture of Housing Support and Outreach Support Services. You will have a relevant professional qualification in a related discipline and management experience. You will be responsible for overseeing the services provided within this area and as such will be an effective leader, coach, communicator, negotiator with the ability to influence and challenge, building strong relationships across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring advanced autism practice.

The amazing charity Downs Syndrome Scotland are recruiting for a Trusts & Grants Fundraiser.

Working alongside the Community Fundraiser and the Corporate & Events Fundraiser, the Trusts and Grants Fundraiser will play a crucial part in making the charity’s vision and mission a reality for people in Scotland.

Main Purpose of Post:

Grants and Trusts Fundraiser to secure transformational income from charitable Grants, Trusts, Foundations and statutory bodies through compelling and persuasive applications, to sustain and grow the Charities service provision throughout Scotland.

Key responsibilities are to:

• Secure income predominantly from medium to large sized Grants, Trusts and Foundations against agreed targets.
• Research, prepare and submit bids to funders – including planning budgets.
• Complete funding applications within tight deadlines to the highest standard.
• Actively engage with charity staff, volunteers, families, and board members to develop case studies and compelling funding narratives for funding and social media purposes.
• Support delivery of services to comply with funders’ criteria.
• Collect and analyse data from spreadsheets and databases for reporting purposes.
• Produce reports for all funders within tight deadlines to the highest standard.
• Liaise with funders to update as and when required.
• Provide outcomes and statistics to funders when required.
• Ensure databases are recording all relevant monitoring and evaluation information required by funders.
• Maintain existing pipeline and develop a pipeline of new prospects for Grants and Trusts.
• Assisting the organisation in creating a long-term fundraising strategy.
• Proactively promote the charity to potential funders and represent the organisation confidently at external meetings.
• Input into Fundraising and Project campaigns.
• Undertake other fundraising duties as required.
• Flexibility to adapt workload to meet the business’s needs.

Skills and experience required:

• Good standard of education sufficient to enable the postholder to fulfil the requirements of the role.
• Knowledge of the trust and foundation funding landscape in Scotland.
• At least two years’ experience in a Grants and Trusts fundraising role.
• Demonstrable experience of writing successful fundraising bids and proposals.
• Confident using IT, including the full Microsoft Office suite.

The Role

As our Service Transformation Manager, you’ll take the lead in developing and transforming one of our biggest services. Our service provides support to eight individuals with complex support needs who all live in their own flats in the same supported living complex.

Working alongside our Branch Leader, Culture Lead, PBS Lead and Depute Delivery Director, you’ll develop a high functioning, accountable and professional support team who are dedicated to making sure that the people we support live the best lives possible.

You’ll take on Registered Manager responsibilities and will drive improvements in standards and quality and help us achieve our strategic aims.

About you

This role would be ideal for someone who is looking to develop their career in our sector in a more senior role, or a Registered Mental Health/Learning Disabilities Nurse with leadership experience.

What we need you to bring:-

• Extensive experience in a leadership role in the Health or Social Care setting
• Significant experience of managing and leading teams, with evidence of improving performance
• Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities and Autism
• Knowledge of legislation and governance within the Social Care sector, specifically SSSC codes of practice and Health & Social Care Standards
• A sound understanding of professional boundaries, accountabilities, and responsibilities, particularly in relation to working with vulnerable people
• A proven solutions focused approach to problem solving with a flexible approach to emerging or changing circumstances
• SCQF level 9/10 in Social Services and Healthcare or equivalent

The key deliverables are:

• Motivational and inspirational leadership for employees and teams to enable and encourage them to perform at their best, acting as a role model for Mainstays values and leadership behaviours.

Nurturing and encouraging employees to achieve to their best ability fulfilling careers with the organisation.

• Effective management of risk across all services with the registered service, ensuring all employees are aware and manage risk within guidelines.

• Responsible for driving up quality within all services in the registration to attain Care Inspectorate requirements and in the event issues arise, develop, implement and complete appropriate remedial action plans.

• Ensure that structures, processes, systems and procedures are coordinated, effective and efficient in meeting business requirements to comply with contractual obligations.

• Work in conjunction with other Registered Managers, Operations Manager, Service Development Manager, Operational Directors and support functions (HR, IT, Finance) to ensure that all activities undertaken are carried out effectively to promote a positive view of Mainstay Trust Ltd for the general public, people we support, carers and family members, employees and local authority representatives.

The person we are looking for to fill this role will have

• SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 9 & SVQ Care Services Leadership and Management at SCQF level 10

• Legacy qualifications that will be considered: SVQ 4 Health and Social Care SVQ 4 Care ,SVQ 4 Management, SVQ 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services , SVQ 4 Registered Manger in Health and Social Care (RMA)

• Previous managerial experience (at least 2years)

• Full Drivers Licence

• Evidence of working with vulnerable groups

• Working knowledge of Health and Social Care Standards

• Working knowledge of personalisation, person centred planning and self directed support

• Ability to manage personal and staff team workloads

• Ability to compile and support other to write outcome based support plans
