- £14.17 per hour paid on a sessional basis (this is equivalent to £15.87 per hour including holiday pay). Saturdays 9.30 am – 4.30 pm. As this work is referral-led, we cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours per week or month. The exact pattern to be agreed with Service Manager, but the postholder will need to be flexible and able to work consecutive Saturdays, as required.
Role
Family Mediation Central Scotland (FMCS) is looking to recruit Child Contact Supervisors.
FMCS supports separated parents and their children across the Forth Valley area by providing both Family Mediation and Child Contact Centre (CCC) services. We are a Member Service of the Relationships Scotland network of local services. CCCs are safe, comfortable places where children can spend time with the parent they no longer live with, and provide a solution for parents who find it difficult to arrange and manage contact themselves. Families using our Supervised Contact Service have usually been referred by the Sheriff Court or family law solicitors, and successful applicants will require to supervise contact sessions at any of our three child contact centres, located in Cowie, Falkirk and Alloa, on a sessional basis, predominantly on Saturdays.
Role: You will be responsible for supervising contact sessions for children with the parent they no longer live with, or another family member, predominantly on Saturdays. You will prepare factual reports on such sessions for the Sheriff Court, under the Service Manager’s guidance.
Key duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Service Manager:
- Ensure the safety and comfort of the children at all times.
- Have due consideration for the safety of other participants, parents and staff, at all times.
- Responsible for the smooth running of any contact sessions you are involved in.
- Observe and record anything of note during supervised contact sessions, then use these notes to compile factual, observational reports on the sessions for the Sheriff Court.
- Manage the transfer of children from one parent to the other at the start and end of each contact session.
- Work with both parents on an equal basis and minimise any conflict and tension around the contact.
- Liaise with Service Manager, and other CCC staff, about additional support for families using the Centre, including any special circumstances, and help implement strategies to address issues arising from contact sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
Education & experience:
- Relevant professional qualification, for example social work, childcare/Early Years, education, mediation, psychology or two or more years’ experience of working with families and children or people in conflict or distress. Ability to work at SCQF Level 7 or above.
- Please note – there are 56 hours of planned training and learning for this post, as set out in the Relationships Scotland Child Contact Centre Services Training Framework. All applicants must be willing to undertake this training and learning.

Home-Start Clackmannanshire is a long standing, dynamic charity, striving to ensure every young child (under 12) has the best possible start in life locally. Raising a family has never been easy; our trained volunteers and staff are there to support families through challenging times. In Scotland, Home-Starts have over 1,500 volunteers supporting over 3,500 families and 6,500 children each year through compassionate, confidential help to parents/carers when they need us most. The parents/carers we support are often overwhelmed and isolated. They may be struggling with mental health, illness, disability, multiple births, poverty, domestic abuse, separation and/or trauma. We provide a bespoke support package of 1:1 and group services for families, helping them to cope with the stresses and strains of daily life and encourage them to build the skills, confidence, and strength they need to nurture their children for years to come.
We are looking to welcome a new Family Support Coordinator to our team to allow us to meet the growing need for our services locally. This is a fixed term contract, with potential of extension.
Purpose of the job
Our Family Support Coordinators are central to the support services we offer our local families. As a Family Support Coordinator, you, along with our other three Coordinators will be the first point of contact for a referred family, engaging them through initial visit, providing information, and helping them to shape their package of support. You will provide direct support to families on a 1:1 basis, whilst also recruiting, training, and supporting our team of home-visiting volunteers.
You will also:
- Contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, Home-Start, Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.
- To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the Home-Start model.
- To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme’s work.
- Implement good safeguarding practice in all areas of work.

Our Aberlour Early Intervention Family Support Service, based in Glasgow will work in partnership with children and young people (aged 12 years and under) and their families to develop relationship-based, strengths-focused whole family support.

Aberlour will be working in partnership with the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership and other Third Sector providers to promote the wellbeing of children and young people by offering caring and responsive support, something which is now needed more than ever as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Aberlour Glasgow Intensive Family Support will deliver the support families need, when they need it. The aim of the service is to ensure that children and young people can continue to flourish at home, at school and in their local community.
