Your new opportunity
Quarriers Youth Housing Support Service is recruiting a Service Coordinator on a full time permanent basis. This is an exiting and rare opportunity to join the QYASS team who provide support to young people aged 16 – 25 years who may be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The service aims to support the Council’s goal of reducing levels of repeat homelessness by providing a high-quality housing support service through our supported accommodation in Ayr and our Outreach services across South and East Ayrshire. QAYSS currently supports 7 young people in their own flats within close proximity of our office, in addition there are 2 young people who share a house locally. Support and advise is available to young people 24/7 365 days a year.
As the Service Coordinator you will provide management and leadership to staff and promote the service ensuring the quality if service provision is delivered to the highest professional standards. You will champion organisational goals and align your skills to Quarriers mission in making Scotland a better place. You will be an advocate in #keepingthepromise so that Scotland's children and young people grow up loved, safe and respected. A key part of the role will be to listen and build strong trusting relationships with staff and young people to ensure they feel safe and heard.
This is a full time permanent post offering 37 hours per week.
What you will need to bring to the role
- A recognised qualification in management, community learning and development, social work, education or equivalent.
- Experience of staff management and supervision, along with the ability to lead, motivate and develop the staff team.
- Significant experience working with vulnerable children / young people.
- Experience of effective partnership working to meet children / young people’s needs
- A working knowledge of the relevant legislation.
- Confident and very competent with ICT including spreadsheets, PowerPoint, excel, word, databases etc.

You will play a key role in leading and delivering the best care and support for children. You will thrive on building positive relationships with commissioners, local government, NHS, other third sector partners and trusts to identify opportunities for growth and additional funding. You will also be driven to influence local and national strategy, policy and practice to the benefit of vulnerable people.
You will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 9 or above plus a management qualification at SCQF level 8 or above.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Family Wellbeing Service in North Ayrshire. Children 1st alongside children, families, and partners provide early help which is easily accessible and non-stigmatising. The team and model of support play a pivotal role in supporting children and families impacted by adversity, ensuring high quality relationships with children and families remain front and centre.
Children 1st along with partners share a determination to act upon the recommendations from The Independent Care Review and deliver The Promise to children and young people. We are also determined that the full incorporation of the UNCRC means that children will have their rights respected in all areas of their lives and will have a real say in the way they are supported. Our project builds on the voices of the recovery community, our extensive experience in supporting children and families impacted by substance use in North Ayrshire and enables us to increase our reach to more families who need us. This aligns closely with the Promise’s priority areas to provide a good childhood and to provide whole family support to those who need it, when the time is right.
We are looking for a Team Leader to join our leadership team within North Ayrshire. In this position you will play a crucial role in the on-going learning and development of the service and contribute to how we continue to best meet the needs of families across the area. Building relationships and the ability to communicate effectively internally as well as with external partners and agencies is at the heart of everything you will do.
You should have experience of working in a leadership capacity; of offering reflective support and/or supervision to a team of staff/students/volunteers and able to confidently respond to and manage risk.
Families are facing increasing challenges which makes this is a demanding role requiring tenacity, commitment and flexibility. No two days are the same!
If you have a passion for working alongside families, have experience of keeping children safe, are committed to restorative approaches, and have a professional qualification in a relevant area such as Social Work, Teaching or equivalent in Child Care/Social Care or related area, accredited counselling qualification, or other relevant qualification at SCQF level 9 or higher, then we want to hear from you.

Further Information
This a full-time post, 35 hours a week, fixed term until the 31st of March 2025. Hours to be worked flexibly to suit the needs of the service, some evening and weekend work will be required.
Main Purpose of post: To enable Church House, Bridgeton to evolve into a fully comprehensive
