Who are we?

Deaf Action is a deaf-led charity, supporting and celebrating deaf people. We were established in 1835 and work with deaf people across Scotland and the South of England. Our work is geared towards empowering all deaf people to achieve their potential and fully participate in society, with equality of rights, access and opportunity.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

• As a senior manager has extensive previous experience of managing the middle management level of their team through robust performance management and being a role model.

• Is also comfortable and skilled in dealing with people in a variety of situations and at all levels.

• Is enthusiastic, optimistic, committed, flexible and adaptable.

• Is self-motivated and able to work under own autonomy, as part of a team and in collaboration with the Deaf Action Board.

• Demonstrates openness to change and adapts quickly to new ways of working.

• Is self-aware and recognises own strengths and weaknesses and how to manage their own development and the development of others.

• Has an ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy.

• Demonstrates honesty, fairness and integrity in actions.

The role

The Head of Development is accountable to the Chief Executive.

In addition to being part of the Senior Management team, managing key strategic operational decisions, the Head of Development will have a pivotal role in leading the development of services offered by Deaf Action through the creation of a robust long-term funding and marketing strategy for organisational sustainability.
