You will have excellent organisational skills, good attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively. You will use your initiative to manage your own workload as well as be able to work effectively as part of a team. You will have experience of using IT in an administrative and supportive context, in particular Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Interest in the voluntary sector and in sleep related information would be an advantage.

This position will be hybrid working with the majority working from home, with some work on occasion in our office in McDonald Road, Edinburgh. Occasional travel within Edinburgh and the surrounding areas will be required but planned in advance.

Organised, motivated and a confident communicator, you’ll be responsible for driving income and building relationships throughout the West Coast of Scotland, to ensure we have the funds needed to deliver our specialist services for every family impacted by this devastating disease. From supporter stewardship, event management, delivering inspiring presentations, and managing volunteers, no week will be the same. The Community and Events Fundraising Officer (West Coast of Scotland) will be joining a hard-working and talented fundraising team, working closely with our Head of Income Generation and Senior Community, Event & Individual Giving Fundraising Officer, as well as our Community and Events Fundraising Officer (East Coast of Scotland), our Communications team and the wider SHA team.

We are looking for an engaging, passionate and tenacious person who can deliver strong, cost effective and sustainable income growth for the charity, along with excellent and engaging copy writing skills, proficient admin and organisational skills, experienced at developing professional relationships and can manage a busy and varied workload. This is a chance for you to channel your varied skills, qualities, and passion for relationship building to improve the lives of families impacted by Huntington’s disease in Scotland.

Scottish Huntington’s Association are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced Senior Central Admin and HR Officer to join our central services team. This role involves offering guidance and support to the organisation while ensuring that both the physical and virtual working environments and processes meet the needs of the wider team.

Reporting to the Head of Income Generation and Administration you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies related to HR, health and safety, ICT, data management and office administration.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure the effective operation and upkeep of office facilities and equipment.
• Develop and revise HR policies in accordance with legislation, providing clear communication to staff.
• Offer HR guidance to managers and colleagues to ensure compliance.
• Manage all activities related to the employee lifecycle, including planning, recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
• Oversee DBS and PVG requests.
• Coordinate Learning & Development initiatives and train managers on HR topics.
• Promote employee wellbeing through wellness initiatives and oversee occupational health issues.
• Use research and data analysis to drive informed decision-making.
• Support the Senior Leadership Team with change projects and consultations.
• Create and maintain various HR documentation, including reports and guides.

Additional information:

Proficiency in English communication is required, as is evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK.

You will need to be available to work from our registered national office a minimum of three full days each week, situated at Business First, Burnbrae Road, Paisley PA1 2FB. For the rest of your working week, you will have the option to work from home. VisionPK is an exciting and growing charity, recently opening our new Sensory Hub in the heart of Perth. We provide specialist services for people with sight and hearing loss living within the Perth and Kinross local authority area.

We are currently recruiting a Community Involvement Coordinator, which is a newly created role, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. This role will strengthen VisionPK’s presence in the community by overseeing volunteer recruitment and governance, building stakeholder relationships and managing our telephone befriending project.

The Role

Volunteer Recruitment and Governance

• Collaborate with the CEO to update and implement volunteer management policies, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
• Develop and deliver induction and ongoing training for volunteers, equipping them with the skills needed to contribute effectively.
• Provide continuous guidance and supervision to volunteers, ensuring a positive experience and high performance in their roles.

Community Engagement and Relationship Building

• Establish strong connections with local community groups, service users, and stakeholders to expand VisionPK’s network and influence.
• Work with community partners to align VisionPK services with local needs and identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Raise awareness of VisionPK’s services through participation in local events, presentations, and outreach activities.

Telephone Befriending Project Leadership

• Lead the setup and delivery of VisionPK’s new telephone befriending project, designed to support isolated individuals with sensory impairments.
• Build and manage a dedicated team of volunteers for the befriending service, ensuring they are well-trained and supported.
• Promote the befriending project throughout the community to engage potential service users and volunteers.
• Track the project’s impact, providing regular reports and recommending improvements as needed.

Raising Awareness and Promoting VisionPK

• Actively promote VisionPK’s services, events, and initiatives through local and digital channels.
• Work closely with the Fundraising Manager to implement community-based fundraising events that engage local supporters and raise essential funds for the charity.
