Description of Role
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and developing all areas of the work of the Royston Food Hub, supporting local communities and individuals through the provision of food education alongside improved access to fruit and vegetables, and opportunities to take part in growing activities.
Using community development approaches you will develop and maintain a programme of activities aimed at reducing the impacts of food poverty, improving health and wellbeing and encouraging community led responses.
You will take an active role in building partnerships and joint working with a range of organisations and groups to plan and deliver food based focused work, and you will have day to day responsibility for the running and development of services including Royston Community Pantry, community meals, healthy eating sessions, cookery classes, youth gardening and community growing.

To plan, manage and coordinate the development of access to good quality community-run greenspace for all age groups in Milton, NW Glasgow. Working with Milton Food Hub group, support outdoor activities which provide learning in a fun way about growing, cooking and eating your own home-grown produce. Using community development approaches, inspire and maintain volunteer-led activities aimed at reducing the impacts of food poverty, improving health and wellbeing and supporting community led responses. Using community-led approaches you will review and maintain our fundraising vision and strategic development aimed at reducing the impacts of food poverty, improving health and wellbeing, and developing community assets. You will take an active role in capacity building partnerships and joint working with a range of organisations and groups to plan and deliver food based focused work across North Glasgow.

You will be an experienced cook comfortable with cooking a range of cuisines, an interest in sustainable food, and an advocate for reducing food waste. You will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of food-based activities including Community Café, community meals, community fridge project and community focused cookery workshops for all age groups.
You will take a lead role in developing and monitoring a range of food safety systems, as well as ordering and managing stock, equipment, and the use of the kitchen. You will also work alongside the existing staff at the Food Hub and Community Garden to develop food growing to support cookery activity.
