SAY Women is seeking to appoint a new Chair for the Board of Directors to work in partnership with the CEO, with a
particular interest in homelessness and sexual abuse. SAY Women is a Scottish Charity No SCO 16526 founded in
1991. It is a feminist charity and the only charity in the UK with this specific combination of services,
providing safe and dedicated support and accommodation for young women (aged 16-25) who are survivors of sexual
abuse and are homeless or at risk of being homeless.
SAY Women has a driven and dedicated Board of Directors whose skills include change management, risk management,
legal, marketing, housing and homelessness, HR, policy, and finance. Board meetings are held every second month,
and sub-committees (2) are held every quarter. In addition, Board members are expected to attend any training
sessions, a strategy away day and an annual general meeting.
Remuneration: The role of Chair is not accompanied by any financial remuneration
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid working with meetings in person and online)
Time commitment:6 Board meetings per year. Additional meetings including strategy planning, staff
away days and AGM. Additionally, the Chair is also expected to have minimum monthly 1:1s and any other necessary
meetings with the CEO, appraise the CEO and Board members annually and represent the Charity at various events
and meetings with key stakeholders.
Reporting to: Board of Directors, supported by the Vice Chair and Sub-Group Chairs
Terms: The charity’s Chair (and board members) will serve a 3-year term to be eligible for
re-appointment for one additional 3-year term. In addition to chairing the main Board meetings, the Chair has
the right to attend the two sub-committees, which all meet quarterly.
