The Fundraising Manager reports to the Director of Operations

Overall Purpose

To lead on the raising and developing of funds to enable the work of Edinburgh City Mission.

Job Details:

Line management:

• Line management of the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer
• Oversee, guide and assist the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer as they develop and lead on individual, community and corporate fundraising initiatives.
• Identify and undertake relevant training for the Fundraising Team

General Fundraising and Development:

• Set goals, targets & deadlines for the department.
• Oversee departmental budget.
• Create and develop the organisational fundraising strategy.
• Research and suggest systems that will help with fundraising.
• Lead on development and implementation of an organizational CRM.
• Work alongside Mission Strengtheners to identify story-telling opportunities that can be shared with a range of current and potential donors.
• Continually develop and update a compelling case for support.
• Communicate with the wider team, encouraging them to act as fundraising ambassadors for the organization under the mindset that we are all fundraisers.

Trusts and Grants:

• Develop and manage a pipeline of trust and foundations by researching, identifying, and prioritising appropriate funders.
• Maintain our database of existing Trusts, Foundations and special funds.
• Create high quality applications, proposals and funding bids on behalf of Edinburgh City Mission
• Liaise directly with Trusts, Foundations and special funds, managing current relationships with grant-making bodies and pro-actively developing relationships with prospective funders.
• Monitor outcomes and deliver on reporting requirements
• Keep an up-to-date and accurate record of grants from Trusts, Foundations and special funds.
• Schedule future applications according to the requirements of Trusts, Foundations, etc.
• Work with Finance to track funds and note and restricted income.
• Delegate smaller trusts and grant work to the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer as required.

Events:

• Develop and deliver annual thanksgiving event.
• Create and deliver any other future fundraising events for Edinburgh City Mission.
• Attend at least four City Vision prayer meetings a year, to share and pray with supporters.

Churches:

• Oversee and develop work with wider team to develop a church giving strategy

Legacy:

• Oversee and develop work with wider team to develop a legacy strategy

Impact Report:

• Assist the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer on all areas of impact report creation alongside the Impact Team including:
• Develop material to communicate with the team on the purpose and basis of our data gathering.
• Onboard new staff members on the purpose of data collection and reporting and share Edinburgh City Mission’s processes.
• Work with Mission Strengtheners to develop a theory of change and data collection processes that will suit their ministry, meeting with them to create changes when needed
• Laise with volunteers who assist with data input and analysis.
• Encourage staff members in their data collection and analysis throughout the year.
• Work with the Fundraising, Policy and Advocacy Officer and Communications Manager to create, write, edit and distribute the final Impact Report.
• Work alongside all members of staff and trustees to attain their contributions and feedback on the impact report.
• Facilitate the collection of stories from our guests, staff and partners for the impact report.

Changes to the above may be made by your Line Manager, with prior notice, in discussion with you.

Personal Skills and Attributes

Essential

• Evidence of an infectious and growing personal faith in Jesus
• Proven track record in fundraising or a similar role
• Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strategically minded with the ability to plan according to current trends
• Evidence of drive and initiative, creating engaging ideas to drive projects forward
• Reliable, well-organised and able to prioritise well
• Experience of preparing funding applications to Trusts and
• Foundations
• Experience of creating and delivering fundraising events
• Ability to nurture strong relationships and influence others
• Ability to set and work to goals without immediate supervision
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent IT skills - particularly Excel, MS Office and databases
• Active involvement in a local church and City Mission team life

Desirable

• Experience of leading a Fundraising Team
• Experience of engaging with churches in a fundraising capacity
• Experience of stewarding and growing legacy donations
• Experience with CRM software
• Previous line management experience, with the ability to encourage and equip individuals
• Ability to create data gathering methods and interpret results

The role

As the Service Manager in our Business Services Team, you will be reporting to the Senior Operations Manager and take a lead role in the following key areas:

• Support with the governance of Carr Gomm, directly enabling the Board of Directors and Chief Executive to lead the organization
• Management of records and schedules relating to properties
• Day to day management of the central administration team in Carr Gomm
• Monitoring and reporting on key compliance indicators relating to Health and Safety, GDPR and operational services

Who we are looking for

In our eyes, the best managers are proactive with a logical and organized mind whilst also being focused and flexible in both their outlook and approach. Although you will not have regular direct contact with the people we support, we expect that you will have an awareness of the support we deliver, and the service needs.

You will have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce management reports, maintain databases, update policies, provide support to the wider organisation and support the development of your team.

You will be comfortable presenting information as well as participating in meetings / working groups. You will also be a confident problem solver with ideas to support new ways of working and provide expert knowledge to help motivate, shape and drive the people agenda within Carr Gomm.

Experience within social care is beneficial, but not essential.

Step Forward to End Homelessness

Turning Point Scotland is one of Scotland’s leading Social Care developer and providers. Our work within Homelessness and Prevention is pioneering, from implementing the UK’s first Housing First service in 2010 toward our current innovation of developing a Whole System Approach to ending and preventing Homelessness.

About the Role

The main responsibilities will be to:

• Assist on the co-ordination of the Homelessness forum, delivering on an agreed action plan

• Assist with the co-ordination and delivery of the Homelessness and Prevention forum, delivering on an agreed action plan

• Enact on agreed Stakeholder engagement plan on behalf of the Head of Homelessness and deputising for them at key meetings / partnerships

• Operationalise non-service specific developments within TPS and ensure continued management / oversight of them

• Lead on agreed / delegated practice developments within TPS, nationally and internationally

• Keep abreast of the evidence base, best practice and the policy landscape in relation to homelessness and prevention, and work closely with our Policy and Business Development Officers to inform and support our work to shape and influence external policy and practice

About You

As our Practice and Innovation Lead, you will deliver our vision of Homelessness being seen as a Health and Social Care issue, imbedded within Health and Social Care Partnerships, and integrated as part of a whole system approach. You will be working closely with Head of Homelessness and will work across the different care groups and social issues where TPS deliver services across., Alcohol and Other Drugs, Justice, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities.

You will operationalise new developments identified within the organisation. This will include new projects to help meet our goals, influencing policy, developing position statements, and developing best practice across our services, nationally and internationally

You will have an awareness of the current social policy relating to homelessness and prevention and effected political systems. Ideally have with success in writing briefings or papers and addressing informed and influential audiences.

Engage and lead on work internally and externally across Scotland, UK, and Europe. This will include interpreting, analysing, and acting on key policy matters. With the ability to think creatively, network successfully, form positive relationships and work in collaboration with others.

Travel across Scotland to our Services and attend meetings at our main office in Glasgow is required.
