Job Summary

HMP Bedford: Practitioner - Recovery & Wellbeing

Would you like to work with a motivated and well-established team to deliver key interventions in the delivery of health and wellbeing service provision, for those with drug and alcohol issues?

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and committed individual to join our service in HMP Bedford, located in the centre of Bedford town centre working within a supportive and friendly team.

This rewarding and exciting role will be key in ensuring that effective, efficient and appropriate care is planned, and managed well for service users and that this care achieves a positive impact to the recovery of the individual.

You will:

  • Manage a case load of service users, conducting assessments, evidence-based interventions (brief and structured), recovery and aftercare planning,
  • Deliver harm reduction advice, guidance and education including, needle & syringe exchanges, brief and extended recovery interventions, blood borne virus interventions and overdose prevention advice,
  • Enable service users to access education and employment services and health, wellbeing and recovery support activities and to signpost to other available services,
  • Support the day-to-day delivery of excellent drug and alcohol services to service users and their significant others, including family members friends and carers.

Key terms and conditions include:

  • Salary: £22500 to £26500 per annum,
  • Contract type: Permanent,
  • Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours),
  • Base of work: HMP Bedford.

There is an expectation for the successful candidate to travel occasionally to our head office in London for induction, training and meeting attendance.
