Do you have experience supporting and advising refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants?
We are recruiting for a new role of Casework Assistant. This role will support our Asylum Support Advice Service (14 hours) and our Food Project (7 hours).
The role will involve assisting both our Casework Team and our Food Project’s Co-ordinator through being a first point of contact and working with a person centred approach to identify client’s needs and either undertake basic casework, signpost to more relevant agencies or refer clients to the Asylum Support Advice Team for more in-depth asylum support casework. The casework involved in the role will include making referrals to other GCP internal services, signposting to external services and assisting clients with accessing foodbanks, healthcare, English classes, social groups and immigration advice.
Our ideal candidate will have evidenced experience of providing basic casework support to vulnerable individuals and be able to work with individuals in a trauma informed, person centred way to identify need. You will have a good working knowledge of the asylum process, the challenges around food insecurity for the asylum community and some knowledge of local community based support for signposting individuals to local organisations.
This post will be subject to a PVG disclosure check.
