FASD Advisor

Role

Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for all those parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents.

We connect adoptive families, provide information and signposting on a range of adoption-related issues and campaign for improvements to adoption policy and legislation at the highest levels. With over 8,000 members, we provide a strong, supportive community and are the largest voice of adopters in the UK.

We are currently looking for a FASD Advisor to join our FASD Hub team in Scotland.

FASD Hub Scotland provides a tiered support service for all parents and carers (whether adoptive, biological, foster or kinship carers) who live with children and young people who have a history of prenatal alcohol exposure.

We provide information, signposting and advice through a telephone helpline, social media and online resources.

Main duties can include:

  • Answer incoming enquiries to the FASD Hub via telephone helpline, email and online platforms. Along with supporting the core Adoption UK Helpline services.
  • Respond appropriately or refer on incoming enquiries to the TESSA service. Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and tracking of all enquires are maintained using appropriate IT systems.
  • Monitor, respond and moderate the FASD Community Facebook Groups. Along with planning, promoting, and facilitate online live community peer support meetings. Ensuring accurate tracking and recording of meetings are maintained.
  • Provide one to one tailored support, along with specific advice and guidance for caregivers accessing Tier 2 service. Maintaining professional boundaries and records, working within agreed policies and processes of the two-tier service.

During the interview you will be require to present a 5 minute presentation regarding FASD, and you will be asked to complete a case study exercise.
