About us
Routes to Work Limited (RTW) is a registered Charity and a strategic partner within North Lanarkshire’s Working, the North Lanarkshire Partnership’s Employability Service. At RTW, we deliver employment support services and skills development to economically disadvantaged residents of North Lanarkshire who require our support to access and sustain work and make improvements in their lives.
What’s new?
We have been successful in securing funding to deliver a range of services for young people under the Scottish Youth Guarantee and are delighted to be helping this disproportionately affected group as part of the economic recovery. We are looking for team members to help us deliver on the Scottish Youth Guarantee services as well as supporting the other programmes at Routes to Work that continue to be crucial to ensure that North Lanarkshire and its’ residents are able to avail themselves of the labour market opportunities that will occur once the economic recovery starts.

About the job
You will work with Kickstart employers to ensure an integrated programme of support is provided to Kick Start participants to maximise the benefit of their participation on the programme. To provide a job broker & development service for all Kickstart participants to ensure that their temporary employment opportunity is improving their longer-term employability prospects and personal development opportunities are being provided to maximise their chances of moving into sustainable employment.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- To establish & develop positive & effective working relationships with Kick Start employers and participants.
- To provide a high-quality initial assessment of client skills, qualifications, experience and barriers to employment within an agreed framework with a view to identifying an effective six-month development plan.
- To make referrals as required to specialist agencies to deal with client barriers such as motivation, social issues, debt & money advice, housing issues as identified.
- To provide a range of individual support sessions on an incremental basis to all Kick Start participants to support their personal development and transition into more sustainable employment.
- To promote and job match Kick Start participants to suitable vacancies for sustainable employment.
- Review client progress by conducting regular action plan review & updating participant records, as necessary.
- To ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained on individual clients via the Management Information Database to ensure accurate reporting of individual & company achievements and claiming of outcomes can be made.
- To achieve engage targets in line with Kick Start service level agreement.
The post being recruited for are to support the following programme.
Kickstart
The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
RTW is acting as a Gateway Organisation for a number of Third Sector organisations in North Lanarkshire who wish to take part in the scheme and we will be providing the employability wrap around support for those successful Kickstart participants as well as the participants of small businesses that have accessed the Kickstart scheme through North Lanarkshire Council who are also a Gateway Organisation.

After being with us for over five years, our current Dundee and Perth & Kinross Regional Manager is relocating to England in November 2023 to be closer to family. As a passionate, experienced professional in the identification, creation and management of a wide range of great partner relationships, you will ensure the Career Ready programme in Dundee City and Perth & Kinross continues to thrive across 8 schools in Dundee and 9 in Perth & Kinross.

Leading our work involves growing, developing and maintaining the brilliant employer and education partnerships that deliver the Career Ready programme, which includes the Local Advisory Board, the Local Authorities (key sponsors), schools (we have a Career Ready coordinator in each school), the Developing the Young Workforce Regional Group, and the many employer organisations and their people who volunteer as mentors, provide quality paid internships and deliver engaging masterclasses.
By assimilating what, why, when and the how of our work, you will be able to:
Lead and develop our Career Ready partnerships in Dundee and Perth & Kinross, optimising the programme experience for all stakeholders and securing ongoing or new employer support for the growing number of students each year (c.64 in Dundee and 50 in Perth & Kinross) who participate in the 18-month long Career Ready programme annually.
Lead programme delivery, stakeholder engagement and business development by working closely with the Career Ready Dundee and Perth & Kinross Local Advisory Board; Leanna Sinclair, Partnerships Development; Janine McFarland, Head of Programme & Operations; and the Career Ready Regional Manager and Scotland Operations team on a continuous improvement agenda that is focused on quality, impact and sustainability underpinned by attention to detail with efficient and effective processes.
- £34,000 – £37,500 DOE (pro rata)
- A working from home allowance of £300 (pro rata) pa is provided
- 33 days holiday (pro rata) plus 2 additional days in the summer. In addition, Career Ready is closed between Christmas and New Year and the time off is not taken from annual leave entitlement
- 6% of salary contribution to a private pension subject to an employee contribution of 3%

Joined Up for Advice Network Coordinator

Capital City Partnership (CCP) is an arm’s length company of The City of Edinburgh Council and is tasked with the operational development, management and support of local and regional employability and poverty reduction measures. It takes a flexible approach to changing economic conditions, needs and opportunities but its core functions comprise:
• The management of all employability related grants and contracts awarded to external providers by the council and other key partners
• The management of assessment processes related to bids received for such grants and contracts and making recommendations for funding
• The provision of policy advice, research, and development support (including secretariat functions) to the city’s Local Employability Partnership and partners
• Support of the Edinburgh Partnership Local Outcome Improvement Plans
• Provision of support to the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal Integrated Regional Employability and Skills programme.
Job Purpose
The Joined up for Joined Up for Advice Network Coordinator is a new position to support the development of a Joined Up for Advice (JUfA) network for better service design that is integrated, holistic, removes stigma, and leads to improved citizen engagements and referrals. It should enable earlier intervention and prevention, and ultimately improve household income and ability to move out of and/or prevent financial crisis.
To achieve this, we wish to recruit a Coordinator to support the following:
• Local Outcome Improvement Plan Priority 1: Enough Money to Live On - the post will support the main activity in this area, including a focus on the Affordable Credit Action Plan, and Money Counts training.
• Joined Up for Advice Steering Group – to provide the secretariat support for working with a JUFA Steering Group, establishing, and bringing together the core people to oversee the implementation of the Review and to consider recommendations.
• Joined Up for Advice Citizens Panel – to support a Citizens Panel with membership drawn from those with lived experience who will work directly to inform the Review recommendations on creating accessible and stigma free services. This area will also include further mapping and evaluation of services and looking at language and design for a future marketing strategy.
• Joined Up for Advice Forum – to support the refreshed development of the Advice Services Forum, with a renewed terms of reference and links to the Citizens Panel. This area will deliver a quarterly forum network with service partners, creating a place for unity, shared learning and good practice and effectively managing change and ensuring the client is placed at the centre of the conversation.
• Joined Up for Advice Charter – to support the creation of a Charter of Service Standards based on the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers supporting a refreshed approach to how services are delivered and made client centred to work together for the best outcome.
• Joined Up for Advice Bulletin – to create and disseminate a one voice professional update for the network, bringing partners together for the latest communications and encouraging a joined-up approach.
Longer term, this post will keep shared resources updated and support in the co-design/co-production of future activity including development of commissioning specifications.
