Role
Join the Social Enterprise Academy as our new Education Marketing & Communications Officer to help create a social enterprise in every school in Scotland in the next 2 years.
Innovated in partnership with The Scottish Government in 2007, Social Enterprise Schools enables every young person to step up, realise their potential, and create the change they want to see in the world.
By giving young people a real-life experience of running their own social enterprise in school, this fully-funded programme delivers transformational learning which impacts both them and their community.
In their 10 year Strategy for Social Enterprise, the Scottish Government announced its ambition to see a social enterprise in every school in Scotland. We have been tasked with leading on the delivery of this goal.
From making sustainable crafts to funding community defibrillators to tackling local unemployment through computer coding classes, these young people are stepping up, taking action and demanding change.
Your role will be to support the growth of the programme, increase our presence nationally and creatively engage key stakeholders to make this vision a reality. Working closely with the Education Team, Marketing Manager, and Design & Communications Officer, you will have a critical role in support the growth of Social Enterprise Schools across Scotland.
Your role will involve developing targeted communications campaigns, managing our marketing channels and creating engaging content that supports the Social Enterprise Academy’s work in schools across Scotland.
You will contribute to key projects and work closely within a creative team to explore ideas and make decisions. You’ll also be supported to develop and grow yourself, and build strong relationships across the organisation.
If you have experience of producing creative content and marketing campaigns, have outstanding communication skills and a supportive team spirit, we would love to hear from you.

Youth Development Food Worker

This is a permanent, full-time role within Scran Academy with the core purpose of supporting young people to gain confidence, experience and skills using food and cooking.
The successful candidate will help change the lives of young people facing exclusion by supporting them using food and cooking as a vehicle to build skills and confidence. The post holder will support young people from 11+, with core groups aged from 14+, to gain positive experiences through a blend of group work, vocational training, accreditation, 1-2-1 delivery and outcomes-driven youth work. This means that the successful candidate will be expected to inspire and be inspired by young people. Using food, cooking and the professional rigour expected in a kitchen, the post holder will design and deliver engaging sessions that give groups and individuals a strong sense of power and purpose.
The post holder will deliver across programmes within Scran, and will report to the CEO with oversight from both the Academy Programme Lead and the Food and Learning Manager.
A typical week would support delivery in various locations: Mondays, Fridays, and occasional weekends will flexibly support our catering and outreach programmes, either at our café site in Comely Bank, or at various locations from our famous food truck, the Scran Van. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will be dedicated to co-delivering our Academy and Tutoring programmes in our site at the Gyle.
A full driving license for manual vehicles is essential for this role.
We are an organisation committed to the welfare and safety of young people. The Youth Development Food Worker will ensure child protection and safeguarding is upheld across the organisation.
We are a youth-led organisation. Young people come to us to learn in a bespoke way. They set their own outcomes and goals, and co-design the nature of the programme accordingly. This means both relationship-building and record-keeping are absolutely central to the role. The post holder will be expected to compassionately support young people to step outside their comfort zones and encourage them to develop positive growth mindsets.
We are an independent SQA centre, allowing us to offer young people the opportunity to gain qualifications outside of the classroom. The post holder will help design and deliver exciting, experiential learning sessions that maximise positive impact for young people. They will also proactively engage in all necessary compliance and training required for the SQA, and ensure continuous capture and celebration of young people’s progress.
Our success is underpinned by our catering social enterprise, and we provide real-life work experience and confidence-boosting opportunities that shift power dynamics, create trust through responsibility, and establish pride and a positive regard for work. The Youth Development Food Worker will facilitate to ensure young people are engaged with opportunities across our organisation.

ESOL Scotland is currently recruiting for 2 tutors to join our team to teach ESOL classes. Teaching will primarily take place in person but some online teaching may be required. We are looking for tutors who are CELTA or Trinity TESOL qualified, preferably with at least two years teaching experience. Hours offered could range from 0.4 FTE to full time.
Please note most classes take place during the day on weekdays.

Desirable:
• Experience teaching SQA accredited courses, delivering ESOL online and/or in the community and/or other mixed-level classes.

The Supported Housing Worker role requires assisting in the management of the development thus ensuring the tenants are able to enjoy an acceptable standard of living in an environment which is clean, safe and friendly. You will be responsible for overseeing the wellbeing of the tenants and for assisting them in maintaining their independence.
As Housing Care Worker your role will involve working with our tenants to ensure they receive the support and personal care identified in their care plans. You will directly support tenants in their homes by providing individual advice, practical housing support assistance and personal care.
Both roles are to ensure that we are able to offer the best service to our tenants and make it possible for our tenants to continue enjoying as much independent living as they’re able.
