As the Engagement Officer you will report to the Engagement Coordinator within the Engagement team. Working closely with the Engagement Manager, you will be working on the Places for Everyone programme, which facilitates the creation of cycling, walking and wheeling infrastructure.
One of the key elements of this role is to provide advice, guidance, and practical assistance in matters relating to engagement, behaviour change, and equality for Places for Everyone projects.
You will be supporting partners in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with residents, community groups, businesses, and stakeholders.
As part of the Grant assessment process, you will assess the quality of engagement and behaviour change plans and Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs).
This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.
We offer true hybrid working, a mix of home working and time within our new Hubs in Edinburgh/Glasgow with flexible working patterns to suit individual circumstances. On occasion, there may be travel, and possible overnight stays required.
About you
Understanding the issues faced by communities experiencing inequalities, you should have experience of developing community engagement strategies at a local level.
You will have experience in facilitating workshops and activities by using effective and innovative methods.
You will demonstrate an understanding of how to use behaviour change tools and to deliver projects that lead to behaviour change.
You will have an understanding the Equality Act 2010.
You will own strong verbal and written communication skills and an understanding of how to report effectively.
