Role

It’s a very exciting time to join Marie Curie as the Charity mobilises towards our North Star vision. We are recruiting for a Legacy Officer who will play a key role in the Legacy Administration Team.

This role sits within the Legacy Administration Team and the successful candidate will be responsible for a dedicated caseload across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland that includes specific, residuary and reversionary legacies, ensuring that Marie Curie receives its full entitlement in a timely manner, whilst protecting our reputation and adding value to gifts, where possible.

You will ensure legacies are allocated in restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with the will and ensure strict observance of the Law Society’s Guidelines on Non-Contentious costs. Whilst closely monitoring legacy case files on a regular basis, you will take appropriate action to move cases through to completion as smoothly and quickly as possible ensuring relationships are developed and nurtured.

There will also be opportunities to work on personal and team projects that are borne from our updated Legacy Strategy.

The Legacy Administration Team is one-third of the Legacy and In Memory Giving Team and we work collaboratively with the Legacy and In Memory Marketing Team and the Regional Legacies and In Memory Team, as a fully integrated team. It truly is an exciting time to join the Legacy Administration Team as we deliver our new Legacy Strategy, which includes building better relationships with solicitors and personal executors.

If you think you fit the bill, we would love to hear from you!

What are we looking for:

  • An ambassador for Marie Curie, who embodies our values and exudes passion and enthusiasm about the work we do.
  • You will be confident, personable and be able to demonstrate solid experience of legacy administration and an understanding of probate law.
  • You should be highly numerate, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be well organised, self-motivated and supporter driven. A focused individual with excellent interpersonal skills will excel in this role.
  • Experience of using a legacy database is essential - FirstClass 4 would be highly desirable, but this is not a requirement as training will be provided.
  • You will be passionate about stewardship and delivering a high-quality experience to personal executors and solicitors.
  • Someone who sees the ‘bigger picture’ and is keen to collaborate with our Legacy and In Memory Marketing Team and the Regional Legacies and In Memory Team where appropriate.
  • Experience speaking to bereaved supporters and an ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion throughout your work.

What's in it for you:

  • Continued access to NHS Pension Scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • Marie Curie Group Personal Pension Scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • Loan schemes for bikes; computers and satellite navigation system
  • Continuous development
  • Industry leading training programmes
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Flexible Working

*UK flexible – with an expectation to travel to London once per month if not London based. Please note that Marie Curie will cover travel costs for these visits and accommodation costs (if required).
