Role

As SNAPs first ever Fundraising Engagement Officer, you will seek to increase individual and group contributions by building relationships and exploring new fundraising opportunities.

About you

This new role will entail building relationships to allow SNAP to forge new funding streams, as such you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, as well as having a proven track record in putting together funding applications to trusts and foundations. Experience in community fundraising will be a bonus, as will management of events of any description. You will be energetic and inspiring and have knowledge of the reality of life for children and adults with severe and complex needs and their families.

Role Purpose

SNAP is embarking on an ambitious chapter of its journey. Having been created in 1996 initially as a parent support group, we have grown with the needs of the children and young people and their families who benefit from the variety of services we now run. We currently benefit over 100 children and young people aged between 5 and 37 who live in or go to school in Inverness through our After School Clubs, Holiday Clubs, Saturday outings, Weekend Breaks, Youth Clubs, Transitions Services and a monthly Adults Club. Next year we are set to expand into a purpose built centre, the first of its kind in Scotland. We will double the number of children and young people able to access our existing services and will create many new, much needed services and activities. Crucially, young people from all over the Highlands will have access to our new services.

This role is crucial to our plans – without new funding streams and communicating the benefits of SNAP to a wider audience, we will not be able to flourish.

Networking is an important part of the role since success depends heavily on being able to forge positive relationships with supporters old and new.

  • You will aim to raise the profile of SNAP through the Highlands’ Business Community in various ways – talks, organising payroll giving, Corporate Fundraisers, Legacy Giving or gaining sponsorship for specific activities or events.
  • You will assist with funding applications, research new trusts and foundations and build relationships with funders new and old.
  • You will be the point of contact for community fundraising initiatives, e.g 5k fun runs, sponsored walks
  • You will use your initiative and imagination to create new and exciting ways to help raise funds for SNAP, recruiting volunteers to assist in any way they can

SNAP is a small charity and as such you’ll be made to feel a part of the family right from the start. You’ll see for yourself the impact your role has on the organisation

We aim to be flexible for the right candidate, so hours can be flexible and pay is negotiable. This post can also be home based, although one catch up a day in our office in Inverness will be required.
