  • Glasgow
  • Closing 20th June 2022

Role

YoMo (Young Movers) is Glasgow’s leading youth empowerment charity as evidenced by our recent attainment as the first organisation in Scotland to attain Platinum Investors in Young People (IIYP) status in March 2021.

YoMo is actively involved in sourcing and creating opportunities for young people to become more civically and personally engaged, reach their full potential and contribute to society. We have recently been awarded funding from The Robertson Trust to deliver a youth employment programme to directly address the economic and employment effects of the Covid crisis on young people. As such we are currently looking for a Youth Employability Officer to join us and take the lead in engaging with and progressing young people along their chosen path to potential volunteering, education and employment opportunities.

MAIN DUTIES

As Youth Employability Officer you will be used to collaborative working and will have some experience managing people. You will be an excellent organiser and should be prepared to track project outcomes and write brief reports for managers/funders as required. You will enjoy presenting to partners and employers as well as building and maintaining relationships with a view to securing job outcomes and signposting, education, training, volunteering and ultimately employment opportunities.

The Youth Employability Officer needs to come from an employability, management, youthwork or learning background. You will undertake to agree and perform in line with YoMo’s professional guidelines. You will be experienced in delivering a range of employability and vocational skills, mainly on an individual basis but occasionally to groups, to young clients from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of needs. The Youth Employability Officer will ultimately be required to achieve project outcomes and help to shape future project innovations.

This specific role involves managing the day to day running of the project as well as proactively managing caseloads of individuals in North & East of Glasgow who are unemployed, “hard to reach” or not socially or economically engaged. YoMo’s youth led approach is informal, comfortable and non-threatening and our clients can face multiple issues so this new postholder requires to have an inclusive but dynamic approach to motivate and enthuse our clientele.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • To participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and one to one supervision sessions where appropriate.
  • Assist with and undertake day to day administration to ensure the smooth running of services.
  • Adhere to and implement all YoMo’s policies.
  • To undertake any other appropriate tasks, as identified by the co-ordinator or management committee.
