Role
Lambhill Stables is a community owned charity in the North of Glasgow providing recreational, educational, training and employment opportunities. Our aims are to develop and deliver programmes of community-based activities in support of our provisions, to engage in viable and socially inclusive activity and to do so in a sustainable way.
This post is currently funded to 31st March 2023, and will require the post holder to provide service and maintenance to customer bikes, and service our fleet of bikes available for community hire.
As the Bike Mechanic the role will require an ability to organise repair jobs and management of personal workloads working as part of the wider staff team, whilst providing a high standard of customer service and community engagement.
There is a further opportunity for the right individual to support in the development of our bike workshop and help it become a pivotal part of our outdoor activities programme.
Key Task and Activities
- Ensure that health and safety and operational delivery is in adherence with written policies and procedures and assist to update these in line with good practice
- Provide bike maintenance within the bike workshop
- Liaise with Lambhill Stables departments to ensure the smooth running of timetabled activities
- Facilitate during bike events promoting initiatives in keeping with the project
Skills and experience required
Technical;
- Cytech level 3 qualified, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience of working in a bike workshop, booking system, cash handling and reconciliation of receipts
- Cycle Leader trained
Operational;
- Friendly, approachable and helpful attitude
- Maintain accurate records of business activity
- Ability to deliver high level of customer experience
- Motivated with excellent communication skills
- Good team worker
- Experience of supervising and training volunteers
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, multi-task effectively and to meet tight deadlines
- Willingness to undertake flexible working hours
- Willingness to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check
- Full driving licence is desirable

About the Organisation
St Paul’s Youth Forum (SPYF) aims to alleviate the worst effects of poverty in the Blackhill/Provanmill area of Glasgow through our programmes focusing on Eating, Education, Exercise and Empowerment.
Purpose of the Role
As part of our programme to ensure that everyone can get ‘On Bikes’ we are looking for an SPYF Bike Mechanic who will help SPYF meet its aims and vision. This will compliment wider Scottish Government policies to encourage people to actively travel instead of using private cars for transport.
The Bike Mechanic will specifically support our partnership with North Glasgow Homes (ngh) with additional support for other projects headed up by On Bikes. This will include the Free Bikes Project, the Cycle Friendly Schools Fund and the SPYF On Bikes social enterprise shop at the Hogganfield Loch.
The post holder is key to ensuring the relationship between St Paul’s Youth Forum and ngh is positively maintained, and as such work will include not only mechanics, but also a variety of Active Travel community engagement activities dependent on the postholder’s skill set.
A crucial part of the role will also be to work as part of the wider St Paul’s Youth Forum team to build referrals and add value to other projects and activities which we run, increasing overall engagement of the wider community and maximising the ways we can help fulfil local need.
This post will entail some evening and weekend working.

Job Purpose:
As the Centre Manager, the post holder is required to lead the team of café and support staff. To plan, coordinate, and direct a broad range of services that allow the organisation to operate efficiently and effectively.
The post holder will develop and underpin the services required to enable The Village Centre to provide a professional, relational, person-centred approach to serving the local community.
Support our information systems where appropriate, ensuring data integrity across the organisation, maintaining records with regards to volunteering, finance, bookings, payroll, and any other operational requirement.
The post holder will facilitate the room booking system, setting up rooms and co-ordinating catering requirements.
The post holder will drive a process of continuous improvement across all aspects of the business.
In addition, the post holder will attend meetings and networking events to promote the work of the organisation, and make good connections with other organisations.

Haddington Bridge Centre Motorcycle Project
The Bridge Centre Motorcycle Project (BCMP) is a charitable organisation, operating as a part of The Haddington Bridge Centre Ltd. The Project was first established in 1990.
BCMP works with young people aged from 11 to 24 and is designed to work with individuals who have a wide range of additional support needs by using off road motorcycles and team building games/exercises as mediums to engage them. The work is ultimately aimed at promoting inclusion and social welfare.
The 3 main types of work undertaken at the Project are:
• Group Work Programmes
(Educational Support Programmes)
• 1-2-1 Programmes
(Individual Placements)
• Open Access Club
BCMP Works with young people individually or in small groups to develop confidence, supporting them to challenge themselves and work towards exciting and achievable goals, while learning new life skills.
The Project works with Secondary Schools and other partnering youth agencies/organisations with the aim of identifying young people who would benefit from taking part in an Educational Support Programme. The Project also works with referred young people who are not so suited to participating in group work, on a 1-1 basis.
In addition, the Project runs an open access club for young people aged 11-16 to join. This part of the Project allows self-referred young people to learn the skills and techniques of off-road motorcycling in a safe environment.
The Project requires an enthusiastic, organised and highly motivated individual with significant Youth / Support work experience to join the Motorcycle Project staff team. The post will be fixed term for one year in the first instance.
The successful candidate will be required to work as part of an existing team for a well-established youth Motorcycle Project and will be given full training. We work closely with local schools and youth agencies to provide group work and 1-1 programmes for young people. The Project uses off road motorcycles and group work activities to focus and engage young people.

Duncan Place Community Hub is a social enterprise and registered charity based in a 3-storey listed building next to Leith Links providing:
• Community, events, and meeting space.
• Office space for local charities, social enterprises, and Community Interest Companies.
• A base for Duncan Place Community Hub’s own programme of community activity.
We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and committed Community Events Assistant to support the growing programme of activity in this exciting community owned social enterprise.
The role is part time, 18 hours per week.
The full-time salary is £21,945, pro-rated this is £11,286 per annum.
Annual leave entitlement in year one is 29 days plus the public holidays on Dec 25th-26th and Jan 1st-2nd, all pro-rated. Annual leave increases across the first 6 years of service up to a maximum of 34 days.
Auto-enrolment pension at 3% from employee plus 5% from Duncan Place. Duncan Place will match any additional voluntary contributions up to a maximum of 10%.
